Characterizing spatial correlation in indoor channels

2004 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference (IEEE Cat. No.04TH8733), 2004
The spatial correlation features of channel impulse responses for an indoor environment are presented. The wide-hand impulse responses of a rectangular enclosure are calculated using the method of images. Bandpass representations of the non line-of-sight multipath responses are obtained for 2.4 GHz ISM band and their spatial cross correlation estimated

Characterization for Series-Parallel Channel Graphs

Bell System Technical Journal, 1981
Channel graphs are often used to describe the connecting paths between a pair of terminals in a link system. Series-parallel (SP) channel graphs and Takagi graphs are special classes of channel graphs heavily studied in the literature. In this paper, we give a noninductive definition of SP channel graphs which we prove to be equivalent to the usual ...

Channel Characterization

2016
This chapter provides an overview of the state of the art in channel characterization for power line communication (PLC). It sets the stage with an overview of basic power line topologies and characteristics of power line channels. The chapter discusses the channel models that fall into three main categories, namely deterministic, empirical and hybrid ...

Micro-Characterization of Wireless Channels

2004
The previous chapter concentrated on estimation of the mean or median signal strength for a given transmitter and receiver geometry characterized by a certain terrain definition in a coverage area. The concept of statistical signal coverage was also presented.

Time-variant BAN channel characterization

2009 IEEE 20th International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications, 2009
In this paper we present a time-variant on-body channel measurement campaign at 2.45 GHz and in the 3–5GHz band. Measurements were performed in an anechoic chamber and an indoor scenario. Three different human body movements for seven human subjects were considered to assess the influence of human activity on the channel behavior.

A Modified XPC Characterization for Polarimetric Channels

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2011
Models describing the polarimetric response of a multipath channel are considered. Conventional cross-polarization coupling (XPC) models are found to provide an ambiguous polarization representation and are sensitive to the receive antenna polarization configuration. These limitations are contrasted with polarization mode dispersion (PMD) models, which

A Characterization of Transionospheric Fading Communication Channel

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1975
Using a multiple-scatter propagation theory, the characteristics of the transionospheric satellite-earth communication links are related to the parameters of the ionosphere. General equations for the frequency correlation functions are derived. Some approximate solutions are obtained and numerical examples are given.

Channel Characterization for Mobile Satellite Communications

1995
This paper concentrates on channel modelling for mobile personal satellite systems. A single-environment channel model is introduced suitable to quasi-stationary flat-flat channels. The model is compared with results taken from the literature. Also a two-state generative channel model with parameters fitted from measurements is presented.

Characterization of ion channels in human preadipocytes

Journal of Cellular Physiology, 2008
AbstractIon channels participate in regulation of cell proliferation. However, though preadipocyte (the progenitor of fat cell) is a type of highly proliferating cells, ion channel expression and their role in proliferation is not understood in human preadipocytes. The present study was designed to characterize ion channels using whole‐cell patch clamp
