ONE-SIDED \(L\)-APPROXIMATION ON A SPHERE OF THE CHARACTERISTIC FUNCTION OF A LAYER

open access: yesUral Mathematical Journal, 2018
In the space \(L(\mathbb{S}^{m-1})\) of functions integrable on the unit sphere \(\mathbb{S}^{m-1}\) of the Euclidean space \(\mathbb{R}^{m}\) of dimension \(m\ge 3\), we discuss the problem of one-sided approximation to the characteristic function of a ...

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Re‐Awakening Public Attention to the Silent Pandemic of Cancer Among Older Adults in Low‐ and Middle‐Income Countries

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As global populations age, cancer is increasingly becoming a leading cause of morbidity and mortality among older adults, particularly in low‐ and middle‐income countries (LMICs). Despite accounting for the majority of new cancer cases and deaths, older individuals remain underrepresented in cancer research, clinical guidelines, and health ...

A similar for ∆1 problem for the second order hyperbolic equation in the 3D euclidean space

open access: yesVestnik Samarskogo Gosudarstvennogo Tehničeskogo Universiteta. Seriâ: Fiziko-Matematičeskie Nauki, 2015
The second-order hyperbolic type equation is considered in the 3D Euclidean space. Boundary value problem is posed in the infinite cylindrical region bounded by the characteristic surfaces of this equation with data on the related characteristic surfaces ...

Tracking Motor Progression and Device‐Aided Therapy Eligibility in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To characterise the progression of motor symptoms and identify eligibility for device‐aided therapies in Parkinson's disease, using both the 5‐2‐1 criteria and a refined clinical definition, while examining differences across genetic subgroups.

The Cauchy problem on a characteristic cone for the Einstein equations in arbitrary dimensions

open access: yes, 2010
We derive explicit formulae for a set of constraints for the Einstein equations on a null hypersurface, in arbitrary dimensions. We solve these constraints and show that they provide necessary and sufficient conditions so that a spacetime solution of the

Age‐Related Characteristics of SYT1‐Associated Neurodevelopmental Disorder

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives We describe the clinical manifestations and developmental abilities of individuals with SYT1‐associated neurodevelopmental disorder (Baker‐Gordon syndrome) from infancy to adulthood. We further describe the neuroradiological and electrophysiological characteristics of the condition at different ages, and explore the associations ...

Zeroes and poles of a characteristic function for Sturm–Liouville problem with nonlocal integral condition

open access: yesLietuvos Matematikos Rinkinys, 2015
This paper presents some new results on a spectrum for the Sturm–Liouville problem with one integral type nonlocal boundary condition depending on tree parameters (γ, ξ1, ξ2).

Exhaustion of Nucleation in a Closed System

open access: yes, 2008
We determine the distribution of cluster sizes that emerges from an initial phase of homogeneous aggregation with conserved total particle density. The physical ingredients behind the predictions are essentially classical: Super-critical nuclei are ...
