Multi-dimensional inhibition effect of halogen salt inhibitors on coal spontaneous combustion in goaf

open access: yesMeikuang Anquan
Spraying inhibitors in the goaf can prevent and control coal spontaneous combustion. To investigate the effects of different halogen salt inhibitors and their mass fractions on the prevention and control of spontaneous combustion of residual coal in the ...

Effects of Interactions on the Critical Temperature of a Trapped Bose Gas

open access: yes, 2011
We perform high-precision measurements of the condensation temperature of a harmonically-trapped atomic Bose gas with widely-tuneable interactions. For weak interactions we observe a negative shift of the critical temperature in excellent agreement with ...

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Temperature-Characteristic Survey of a 1000-W LDMOS Power Amplifier

open access: yesIEEE Access
To investigate the temperature characteristics of a laterally double-diffused metal oxide semiconductor (LDMOS) 1000 W shortwave solid-state power amplifier (PA), a comprehensive series of tests has been conducted.

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Pseudogap temperature as a Widom line in doped Mott insulators

open access: yes, 2012
The pseudogap refers to an enigmatic state of matter with unusual physical properties found below a characteristic temperature $T^*$ in hole-doped high-temperature superconductors. Determining $T^*$ is critical for understanding this state. Here we study

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Partition function zeros of the Q-state Potts model on the simple-cubic lattice

open access: yes, 2002
The $Q$-state Potts model on the simple-cubic lattice is studied using the zeros of the exact partition function on a finite lattice. The critical behavior of the model in the ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic phases is discussed based on the ...

TEMPERATURE CHARACTERISTICS FOR DURATION OF AN INSTAR IN CLADOCERANS [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of General Physiology, 1926
1. The temperature characteristics for the rate of development during a well defined instar were determined for three species of Cladocera, and found to be of the same general magnitudes as those obtained for rates of development and of O2 consumption in other arthropods. 2.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.
