Charcoal Briquettes as Locomotive Fuel

Nature, 1944
A. F. JOSEPH and B. W. Whitfield1 described in 1921 the production of charcoal briquettes made from Sudan woods. They used as binder gum arabic or sorghum flour, both of which are available locally. Such briquettes are satisfactory for firing a stationary boiler, but are quite unsuitable as locomotive fuel.

Thermal decomposition kinetics of Prosopis juliflora charcoal briquette using thermogravimetric analysis

Environmental Science and Pollution Research, 2022
In the current study, the energy potential of Prosopis juliflora charcoal briquette sample was assessed using thermogravimetric analysis at heating rates 10 °C/min, 15 °C/min, and 20 °C/min under nitrogen atmosphere. The thermogravimetric study showed that the thermal devolatilization of the briquette sample occurred in four principal stages. The major

Combustion Properties of Briquette Charcoal from Durian Peel

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2014
This work aimed to use durian peel as raw material for producing bio-briquette charcoal by combustion and gasification. Briquette charcoal obtained was proposed as an alternative thermal energy for household. The producing process began from washing, drying and then pyrolyzing under carbonization by the designed drum dryer furnace. The pyrolyzed durian

Performance Efficiency of Binding Agents in Coconut Charcoal Briquettes

International Journal of Research and Scientific Innovation
Coconut charcoal briquettes are an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional charcoal, with their performance significantly influenced by the type of binding agent used. This study evaluates five binding agents—cassava starch, paper, clay, coco peat, and banana peel—by analyzing key combustion parameters: burning time, ignition time, and ash ...

Characteristics of Commercially Available Charcoal and Charcoal Briquettes in the Light of Petrographic Studies

2019
As of today, petrographic studies on charcoals and charcoal briquettes in Poland are rarely used as a source of information on the quality of fuels used for grilling. It should be noted that, according to the Polish Standard PN -EN 1860-2, petrographic analyzes of coals and briquettes are obligatory before placing the discussed fuels on the market ...
