Interfacial Heterojunction Enables High Efficient PbS Quantum Dot Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science
Colloidal quantum dots (CQDs) are promising optoelectronic materials for solution‐processed thin film optoelectronic devices. However, the large surface area with abundant surface defects of CQDs and trap‐assisted non‐radiative recombination losses at ...

CHARGE CARRIER RECOMBINATION IN AMORPHOUS SELENIUM FILMS [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
The charge transport characteristics of amorphous semiconductors determine how well they will perform in many applications. The product of the charge carrier drift mobility, µ, and deep trapping lifetime, t, also known as the range of the carrier ...

Phase‐Pure and Size‐Tunable Tin Halide Perovskite Quantum Dots

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A trioctylphosphine oxide modulated protocol allows for the synthesis and study of the optical properties of a broad library of tin halide perovskite quantum dots across multiple A‐ and X‐site compositions with precise size tuning while eliminating unwanted 2D phases.

Numerical investigation of ultrathin CIGS solar cells featuring SiO2/GaAs double rear passivation

open access: yesScientific Reports
In this work, we propose a modified GaAs/SiO2 based Double Rear Passivation (DRP) structure for CIGS solar cells. DRP essentially comprises two distinct mechanisms for reducing recombination at the solar cell’s rear.

Rethinking Charge Transport and Recombination in Donor‐Diluted Organic Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Organic solar cells with 1–45% PM6 content in Y12 were studied to link structure and charge dynamics to performance. The conductivity follows a 3D percolation model without a sharp threshold. Donor dilution preserves the photogeneration yield, but limits the fill factor due to transport resistance losses.

Bioinspired Adaptive Surfaces for Intelligent Liquid Manipulation: Progressing From Passive and Active to Hybrid Strategies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review examines passive, active, and hybrid liquid manipulation strategies, highlighting hybrid approaches as an emerging route to reconcile energy efficiency with adaptive control. By actively reconstructing passive surfaces to store programmable interfacial energy, hybrid systems enable flexible yet low‐power liquid transport, with perspectives ...

Evidence for RNA recombination between distinct isolates of Pepino mosaic virus. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Genetic recombination plays an important role in the evolution of virus genomes. In this study we analyzed publicly available genomic sequences of Pepino mosaic virus (PepMV) for recombination events using several bioinformatics tools.

Electrocatalyst/Semiconductor Interfaces in Photoelectrocatalysts: Mechanistic Analysis of the Impact of Nanoparticle Electrocatalyst Coverage on Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Reducing Ni nanoparticle coverage on n‐Si photoanodes enhances photovoltage by promoting thicker interfacial SiOx formation during photoelectrochemical oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Experiments, analytical modeling, and finite‐element simulations reveal that coverage‐dependent chemical interface evolution, rather than geometric effects alone ...

Low Temperatures Reduce Shallow Defect Energies and Interfacial Recombination Losses in Triple-Cation Lead-Halide Perovskites

open access: yesPRX Energy
Understanding the origin and mechanisms of defect-induced voltage losses and recombination in metal-halide perovskites aids in the development of new strategies to achieve higher solar cell efficiencies.
