Cargo adaptors regulate stepping and force generation of mammalian dynein-dynactin. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Cytoplasmic dynein is an ATP-driven motor that transports intracellular cargos along microtubules. Dynein adopts an inactive conformation when not attached to a cargo, and motility is activated when dynein assembles with dynactin and a cargo adaptor.

Full Coverage Testing Method for Automated Driving System in Logical Scenario Parameters Space

open access: yesSensors
Scenario-based testing is a mainstream approach for evaluating the safety of automated driving systems (ADS). However, logical scenarios are defined through parameter spaces, and performance differences among systems under test make it difficult to ...

Characteristics, properties and limitations of per‐ or polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) and fluoropolymers

open access: yesPolymer International, EarlyView.
An overview and categorization of man‐made per‐ or polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) including low‐molar‐mass and high‐molar‐mass fluorochemicals, and their international regulations is presented. Though certain PFASs are toxic, bioaccumulative and cross the human cellular membranes, others, such as fluoropolymers, are safe, reliable and involved in ...

Data-Driven Enhancements for MPC-Based Path Tracking Controller in Autonomous Vehicles

open access: yesSensors
The accuracy of the control model is essential for the effectiveness of model-based control methods. However, factors such as model simplification, parameter variations, and environmental noise can introduce inaccuracies in vehicle state descriptions ...

Control System for the Navigation of the Agricultural Robots: A Review

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Control systems for the navigation of autonomous agricultural robots—particularly those operating in uneven terrain and in the presence of static or dynamic obstacles—have advanced considerably in recent years. As conventional machinery evolves toward increasingly automated systems, the design of reliable navigation controllers has become ...

Experimental and Numerical Investigation of the Mechanical Characteristics of Kevlar Composite Deployable Lenticular Tubes

open access: yesEng
Carbon fiber-reinforced plastics (CFRP) are widely used in deployable space structures due to their strength-to-weight ratio, yet their inherent brittleness and limited damage tolerance constrain their performance under large deformation.

Electric vehicle chassis dynamometer test methods at JPL and their correlation to track tests [PDF]

open access: yes
Early in its electric vehicle (EV) test program, JPL recognized that EV test procedures were too vague and too loosely defined to permit much meaningful data to be obtained from the testing. Therefore, JPL adopted more stringent test procedures and chose

Exploring the Use and Impact of Composite Materials in Robotics: A Systematic Review

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Lightweight and high‐strength materials are important in robotics, as structural design impacts efficiency, payload capacity, and energy consumption. Composite materials, with their superior stiffness‐to‐weight ratios and multifunctional properties, offer clear advantages over conventional metals and polymers.
