The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Optimized Chemical Absorption Process for CO2 Removal in a Steel Plant

open access: yesEnergies
The steel industry is a significant contributor to global CO2 emissions due to the highly energy-intensive nature of its production processes. Specifically, steel production involves the conversion of iron ore into steel through processes such as the ...

Process simulation of CO2 capture from CO2‐EOR associated petroleum gas with aqueous MEA and MDEA solvents

open access: yesEnergy Science & Engineering, 2019
Associated petroleum gas produced by CO2‐enhanced oil recovery (CO2‐EOR) has a complex composition, high CO2 content, and is unstable. To date, no integrated process simulation for CO2 capture of the EOR associated petroleum gas has been developed. Based

Carbon Dioxide Chemical Absorption Using Diamines with Different Types of Active Centers

open access: yesSeparations, 2022
The present research analyzes chemical solvents based on the use of diamines (Ethylenediamine-EDA, 1,2-Dimethylethylenediamine-DMEDA and Tetramethylethylenediamine-TMEDA) for carbon dioxide absorption, taking into account the type of amino centers in the

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Study on Properties of Hydrophilic Modified Polypropylene Regular Filler by Melt Blending in Carbon Dioxide Capture Tower

open access: yes发电技术
ObjectivesAt present, most amine based CO2 capture systems for flue gas use stainless steel filled towers. In order to significantly reduce the cost of filled towers, this paper proposes the use of polypropylene structured filler instead of high cost ...

Chemical Absorption by Aqueous Solution of Ammonia

open access: yes, 2018
Carbon capture is proposed as a viable way of exploiting the fossil resources for power plants and industrial processes. The post-combustion capture by chemical absorption in amine aqueous solutions has been in use in chemical and petrochemical areas for decades. As an alternative, the absorption in aqueous ammonia has received great attention recently.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
