Effective retrieval and new indexing method for case based reasoning: Application in chemical process design [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In this paper we try to improve the retrieval step for case based reasoning for preliminary design. This improvement deals with three major parts of our CBR system.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Application of treated domestic sewage effluent on the quality indicators of an Oxisol cultivated with castor bean

open access: yesRevista Ceres
In semi-arid regions of developing countries worldwide it is necessary to develop low cost technology methods to acquire new water supplies. The objective was to evaluate the changes in the attributes of soil quality irrigated with treated sewage ...

Winter cover crops affecting physical and chemical soil attributes in a commercial vineyard

open access: yesCiência Rural, 2017
: Cover crops may have direct or indirect effects on the physical and chemicalsoil attributes; these cropsplay a key role in the cycling of nutrients in the soil and add labile organic carbon, bringing economic and environmental benefits to the system ...

Effect of management systems in soil chemical attributes

open access: yes, 2007
Soil chemical attibutes were assessed after nine years on a typical Dystrophic Red Latosol located in Passo Fundo, State of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Four soil management systems – 1) no-tillage, 2) minimum tillage, 3) conventional tillage using a disk plow followed by use of a disk harrow, and 4) conventional tillage using a moldboard plow followed ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

A multi-methodological protocol to characterize PDO olive oils [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
An analytical approach including Panel Test, Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry (IRMS) and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy was proposed to characterize Italian “Colline Pontine” PDO olive oils (40 samples) of two consecutive crop years.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Soil attributes and biomass yield from Pinus caribaea var. hondurensis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Biomass yield from Pinus caribaea var. hondurensis is conditional on soil attributes. With the silvicultural practice currently being used in Brazil, Pinus stands might produce lower yields due to nutrient shift from harvest and due to changes in the ...
