Quantification of Homopolymer Impurities in Structured Acrylate Copolymers Produced by High‐Temperature Semi‐Batch Radical Polymerization

open access: yesMacromolecular Reaction Engineering, EarlyView.
Isobornyl acrylate macromonomer solutions are synthesized via high‐temperature radical polymerization using a starved‐feed semi‐batch operating policy. Through sequential feeding, the macromonomer solution functions as an addition‐fragmentation agent, facilitating the production of blocky and comb acrylate copolymers.

Investigating the Effectiveness of Dispersants for Graphitic Carbon Black Suspensions

open access: yes, 2011
The dispersability of graphitic carbon black (Monarch 1000) selected as a model for carbon nanotubes has been investigated in aqueous and non aqueous media using rheological, conductivity measurements and atomic force microscopy.

Green Synthesis of ZnO Nanoparticles From Spirulina platensis: Antimicrobial and Cytotoxic Evaluation With Molecular Docking Studies

open access: yesChemistryOpen, EarlyView.
Algal‐extract‐derived ZnO nanoparticles show shape anisotropy and are bio capped by phytochemicals. These green‐synthesized NPs strongly inhibit S. aureus and K. pneumoniae biofilms. Molecular docking suggests stable binding of surface biomolecules to microbial targets, highlighting synergistic antibacterial mechanisms.

Direct observation of a hydrophobic bond in loop-closure of a capped (-OCH2CH2-)n oligomer in water

open access: yes, 2010
The small r variation of the probability density P(r) for end-to-end separations of a -CH2CH3 capped (-OCH2CH2-)n oligomer in water is computed to be closely similar to the CH4 ... CH4 potential of mean force under the same circumstances.

Using Lignin and Spent Coffee Grounds as Bio‐Additives in 3D‐Printable Poly Lactic Acid/Multi‐Walled Carbon Nanotube Composites for Advanced Electronic Applications

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Bio‐based additives derived from lignin and spent coffee grounds (SCG) are used to enhance MWCNT dispersion in PLA composites, enabling improved electrical conductivity and reliable in material extruded strain‐gauge sensors. ABSTRACT In this work, three bio‐based additives, lignin, spent coffee grounds (SCG), and oil extracted from SCG (Ox‐SCG) were ...

Diffusion/Dispersion Transport of Chemically Reacting Species

open access: yes, 2014
The project characterized and quantified as a function of pressure, temperature and bulk composition the exergonic intra- and extracellular reactions catalyzed by thermo- and hyperthermophilic microbes at the oil-water interface in sedimentary basins. The reactions have been characterized and described quantitatively in terms of the chemical potentials

A Proposed Method of Forming a Sodium Hexametaphosphate Film on the Fourdrinier Wire [PDF]

open access: yes, 1952
The addition of sodium hexametaphosphate to the white water system of the paper mill is an effective method of preventing pitch deposition. The ability of this compound to prevent pitch agglomeration is due to its tendency of forming monomolecular films ...

Roughness Measurements at Small and Uneven Surfaces of Ceramic Foam Filters

open access: yesSurface and Interface Analysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigated the possibility of roughness characterization of ceramic foam filters using a laser scanning microscope, examining the influence of magnification, measured area, cutoff wavelength (λc), measured roughness parameter, and position within the ceramic foam on the measured roughness data. Firstly, the effect of magnification

Le problème des hydrates dans le contexte de la production et du transport polyphasiques des pétroles bruts et des gaz naturels. Première partie : physico-chimie de la formation et de la dissociation des hydrates Hydrates Problem Within the Framework of Multiphase Production and Transport of Crude Oils and Natural Gases. Part One: Physical-Chemistry of Hydrates Formation and Dissociation

open access: yesOil & Gas Science and Technology, 2006
L'exploitation en mer des gisements de combustibles fossiles fluides a amplifié le besoin d'accroître nos connaissances sur les hydrates qui sont susceptibles de boucher les installations de production, de traitement et de transport.
