Effect of $U_A(1)$ Breaking on Chiral Phase Structure and Pion Superfluidity at Finite Isospin Chemical Potential

open access: yes, 2006
We investigate the isospin chemical potential effect in the frame of SU(2) Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model. When the isospin chemical potential is less than the vacuum pion mass, the phase structure with two chiral phase transition lines does not happen due to $

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Chemical potential in disordered organic materials

open access: yes, 2012
Charge carrier mobility in disordered organic materials is being actively studied, motivated by several applications such as organic light emitting diodes and organic field-effect transistors. It is known that the mobility in disordered organic materials

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Housing and dietary effects on production performance, quality index, and chemical composition of Japanese quail eggs

open access: yesVeterinary and Animal Science
Quail housing and diet significantly impact egg yield and quality. This study assessed the impact of diets and housing arrangements on Japanese quail's egg production, egg index, and quality.

Enhancement of gluonic dissociation of $J/\psi$ in viscous QGP

open access: yes, 2001
We have investigated the effect of viscosity on the gluonic dissociation of $J/\psi$ in an equilibrating plasma. Suppression of $J/\psi$ due to gluonic dissociation depend on the temperature and also on the chemical equilibration rate.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Motif Analysis for Small-Number Effects in Chemical Reaction Dynamics

open access: yes, 2016
The number of molecules involved in a cell or subcellular structure is sometimes rather small. In this situation, ordinary macroscopic-level fluctuations can be overwhelmed by non-negligible large fluctuations, which results in drastic changes in ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.
