Enhanced Screening in Chemically Functionalized Graphene [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2012
Resonant scatterers such as hydrogen adatoms can strongly enhance the low energy density of states in graphene. Here, we study the impact of these impurities on the electronic screening. We find a two-faced behavior: Kubo formula calculations reveal an increased dielectric function $\varepsilon$ upon creation of midgap states but no metallic divergence

Potential of Naftifine Application for Transungual Delivery

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
Naftifine is used to treat fungal skin infections as it inhibits dermatophytes, which are the cause of onychomycosis. However, naftifine’s ability to permeate the human nail barrier has not been investigated, thus, the antimycotic potential is not ...

Chemical Enhancers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The transdermal administration of drugs is an effe ctive alternative to conve ntional methods such as oral or subcutaneous injections, as it overcomes the difficulties associated with these routes. Several methodologies have been developed in order to enhance drug transdermal absorption.

A highly elastic absorbable monofilament suture fabricated from poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-4-hydroxybutyrate)

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
To address the growing demand for more elastic sutures free from unwanted knot loosening, we fabricated an absorbable monofilament suture from poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-4-hydroxybutyrate) and subjected it to physical property characterization and ...

Enhancing the chemical transformation of Candida parapsilosis [PDF]

open access: yesVirulence, 2021
Candida parapsilosis is a leading cause of invasive mycoses and the major cause of nosocomial fungaemia amongst low and very low birth weight neonates. However, the molecular and physiological characteristics of this fungus remain understudied. To advance our knowledge about the pathobiology of this pathogen, we sought to develop and validate an ...

CFD simulations of the mass transfer behavior of tar simulant on silicon oil in an absorber

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering, 2022
Oil washing for tar removal had achieved considerable success. However, hardly any research focused on the exploration of mass transfer in the tar absorber, especially due to viscosity.

Genome-Wide Identification and Expression Analyses of the Chitinase Gene Family in Response to White Mold and Drought Stress in Soybean (Glycine max)

open access: yesLife, 2022
Chitinases are enzymes catalyzing the hydrolysis of chitin that are present on the cell wall of fungal pathogens. Here, we identified and characterized the chitinase gene family in cultivated soybean (Glycine max L.) across the whole genome.
