Air-Sea CO2-Exchange in a Large Annular Wind-Wave Tank and the Effects of Surfactants

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2018
Wind, chemical enhancement, phytoplankton activity, and surfactants are potential factors driving the air-sea gas exchange of carbon dioxide (CO2). We investigated their effects on the gas transfer velocity of CO2 in a large annular wind-wave tank filled

Accelerate the Electrolyte Perturbed-Chain Statistical Associating Fluid Theory–Density Functional Theory Calculation With the Chebyshev Pseudo-Spectral Collocation Method. Part II. Spherical Geometry and Anderson Mixing

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2022
To improve the efficiency of electrolyte perturbed-chain statistical associating fluid theory–density functional theory (ePC-SAFT-DFT) calculation of the confined system, in this work, first, the Chebyshev pseudo-spectral collocation method was extended ...

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

The Exocyst Complex Subunit EXO70E1-V From Haynaldia villosa Interacts With Wheat Powdery Mildew Resistance Gene CMPG1-V

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2021
EXO70 belongs to the exocyst complex subunit that plays a critical role in regulating plant cell polarity establishment and defense response. A previous study proved that the E3 ligase CMPG1-V from Haynaldia villosa, a diploid wheat relative, positively ...
