In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Cryogenic fractionation as a post-fermentation strategy for partial dealcoholisation of red wine: impacts on acid balance, colour, and phenolics

open access: yesOENO One
A rise in popularity of no/low-alcohol beverages and increasing vineyard temperatures associated with climate change has driven research into and the subsequent improvement of dealcoholisation methods.

Mapping Observations of DNC and HN^13C in Dark Cloud Cores

open access: yes, 2003
We present results of mapping observations of the DNC, HN^13C, and H^13CO^+ lines (J=1-0) toward 4 nearby dark cloud cores, TMC-1, L1512, L1544, and L63, along with observations of the DNC and HN^13C lines (J=2-1) toward selected positions.

Probing Mechanical and Chemical Instabilities in Neutron-Rich Matter [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The isospin-dependence of mechanical and chemical instabilities is investigated within a thermal and nuclear transport model using a Skyrme-type phenomenological equation of state for neutron-rich matter.

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

Polyurethane Coatings Based on Chemically Unmodified Fractionated Lignin

open access: yesACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering, 2015
New lignin-based thermoset polyurethane (PU) coatings with high lignin content are presented in this work. These materials were obtained by extracting a sol fraction from a raw kraft lignin sample with the bioderived solvent 2-methyltetrahydrofuran (MeTHF), and subsequently directly cross-linking the MeTHF-soluble lignin fraction with a toluene ...

Deuterium fractionation in the Horsehead edge [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Deuterium fractionation is known to enhance the [DCO+]/[HCO+] abundance ratio over the D/H elemental ratio of about 1e-5 in the cold and dense gas typically found in pre-stellar cores.

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Possible isotopic fractionation effects in sputtered minerals [PDF]

open access: yes
A model which makes definite predictions for the fractionation of isotopes in sputtered material is discussed. The fractionation patterns are nonlinear, and the pattern for a particular set of isotopes depends on the chemical matrix within which those ...
