Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Solid-liquid interface charge transfer for generation of H2O2 and energy

open access: yesNature Communications
Solid-liquid contact electrification is a widespread interface phenomenon in nature. Recent research and theory demonstrate that electron transfer during this process holds the potential to initiate interfacial chemical reactions.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Chemical Modification of Biliprotein Chromophores [PDF]

open access: yesZeitschrift für Naturforschung C, 1979
Abstract The reaction of biliproteins with sodium dithionite has been studied. The reagent is selective towards the chromophores. In denatured phycocyanin from Spirulina platensis, all three chromophores react to form yellow “phycorubin”, whereas only 1/3 of the chromophores react in native phycocyanin in a non-statistical manner.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Self-organization of unimolecular micelles in beam stream for functional mesoporous metal oxide nanofibers

open access: yesFundamental Research, 2022
The use of linear amphiphilic block copolymers as templates is an important method for the preparation of mesoporous materials. However, the obtained assemblies are usually sensitive to synthetic conditions, which impedes the preparation of such ...

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only
