The power of microRNA regulation—insights into immunity and metabolism

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
MicroRNAs are emerging as crucial regulators at the intersection of metabolism and immunity. This review examines how miRNAs coordinate glucose and lipid metabolism while simultaneously modulating T‐cell development and immune responses. Moreover, it highlights how cutting‐edge artificial intelligence applications can identify miRNA biomarkers ...

Anomalous Shift of Chemical Potential in the Double-Exchange Systems

open access: yes, 1997
Double-exchange system is investigated by the dynamical mean-field theory. We show that the chemical potential shifts as a function of temperature and magnetization, which is anomalously large. We also discuss the influences of dynamic Jahn-Teller effect

Lepton Asymmetry of the Universe and Charged Quark-Gluon Plasma [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
The lepton asymmetry of order one is not excluded experimentally and, if present, can lead to interesting phenomena in the early Universe. It is shown that, when the temperature is above the quark-hadron transition, the lepton asymmetry induces chemical ...

The cytoskeletal control of B cell receptor and integrin signaling in normal B cells and chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In lymphoid organs, antigen recognition and B cell receptor signaling rely on integrins and the cytoskeleton. Integrins act as mechanoreceptors, couple B cell receptor activation to cytoskeletal remodeling, and support immune synapse formation as well as antigen extraction.

Interaction vesicles as emerging mediators of host‐pathogen molecular crosstalk and their implications for infection dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Interaction extracellular vesicles (iEVs) are hybrid vesicles formed through host‐pathogen communication. They facilitate immune evasion, transfer pathogens' molecules, increase host cell uptake, and enhance virulence. This Perspective article illustrates the multifunctional roles of iEVs and highlights their emerging relevance in infection dynamics ...

Investigation of the Uniformity of Gel Shrinkage by Imaging Tracer Particles Using X‐Ray Microtomography

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView., 2023
A novel method for tracking structural changes in gels using widely accessible microcomputed tomography is presented and validated for various hydro‐, alco‐, and aerogels. The core idea of the method is to track positions of micrometer‐sized tracer particles entrapped in the gel and relate them to the density of the gel network.

Single-particle properties of topological Wannier excitons in bismuth chalcogenide nanosheets

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
We analyze the topology, dispersion, and optical selection rules of bulk Wannier excitons in nanosheets of Bi2Se3, a topological insulator in the family of the bismuth chalcogenides.

Particle Freeze-out and Discontinuities in Relativistic Hydrodynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Freeze-out of particles in relativistic hydrodynamics is considered across a 3-dimensional space-time hypersurface. The conservation laws for time-like parts of the freeze-out hypersurface require different values of temperature, baryonic chemical ...

A stepwise emergence of evolution in the RNA world

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
How did biological evolution emerge from chemical reactions? This perspective proposes a gradual scenario of self‐organization among RNA molecules, where catalytic feedback on random mixtures plays the central role. Short oligomers cross‐ligate, and self‐assembly enables heritable variations. An event of template‐externalization marks the transition to

Study on diffusion coefficient of benzene and ethyl benzene vapours in nanoporous silica aerogel and silica aerogel-activated carbon composites [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Chemical Engineering, 2019
In this study, nanoporous silica aerogel and silica aerogel-activated carbon composites have been synthesized using a water glass precursor by cost effective ambient pressure drying method. Equilibrium and kinetics of benzene and ethyl benzene adsorption
