Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Characterization of VOCs at Shaoxing in the Winter Campaign: Sources and Chemical Reactivity

open access: yesAtmosphere
Despite recent improvements in particulate matter (PM) pollution, haze events still frequently occur in many regions of China. Volatile organic compounds (VOCs), as key precursors in atmospheric photochemistry, play a crucial role in haze formation.

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Bond-specific reaction kinetics during the oxidation of (111) Si: Effect of n-type doping

open access: yes, 2010
It is known that a higher concentration of free carriers leads to a higher oxide growth rate in the thermal oxidation of silicon. However, the role of electrons and holes in oxidation chemistry is not clear.

YAP1::TFE3 mediates endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal plasticity in epithelioid hemangioendothelioma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The YAP1::TFE3 fusion protein drives endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EndMT) plasticity, resulting in the loss of endothelial characteristics and gain of mesenchymal‐like properties, including resistance to anoikis, increased migratory capacity, and loss of contact growth inhibition in endothelial cells.

Chemical Reactivity Theory and Empirical Bioactivity Scores as Computational Peptidology Alternative Tools for the Study of Two Anticancer Peptides of Marine Origin

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
This work presents an account of the reactivity behavior of the anticancer marine drugs, Soblidotin and Tasidotin, based on the calculation of the global and local descriptors resulting from Chemical Reactivity Theory (CRT), also known as Conceptual DFT,
