Edge functionalisation of graphene nanoribbons with a boron dipyrrin complex : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Nanoscience at Massey University, Manawatū, New Zealand [PDF]
Chemical modification can be used to tune the properties of graphene and graphene nanoribbons, making them promising candidates for carbon-based electronics.

Modeling food matrix effects on chemical reactivity: Challenges and perspectives
The same chemical reaction may be different in terms of its position of the equilibrium (i.e., thermodynamics) and its kinetics when studied in different foods. The diversity in the chemical composition of food and in its structural organization at macro-

This study characterizes the responses of primary acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patient samples to the MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665. The results revealed that monocytic differentiation is associated with MIK665 sensitivity. Conversely, elevated ABCB1 expression is a potential biomarker of resistance to the treatment, which can be overcome by the combination ...

ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

Metadynamics with Discriminants: a Tool for Understanding Chemistry
We introduce an extension of a recently published method\cite{Mendels2018} to obtain low-dimensional collective variables for studying multiple states free energy processes in chemical reactions.

Urinary LGALS3BP is elevated in bladder cancer patients compared to healthy controls as detected by the 1959 antibody–based ELISA. The antibody shows enhanced reactivity to the high‐mannose glycosylated variant secreted by cancer cells treated with kifunensine (KIF).

Quantum size effects of small, size-selected and deposited CoRh clusters on Ni
The electronic, chemical and magnetic properties of in situ prepared, mass-selected and deposited Co _x Rh _y alloy clusters with up to five atoms per cluster have been studied by means of x-ray absorption and x-ray magnetic circular dichroism ...

Local reactivity descriptors such as the condensed local softness and Fukui function have been employed to investigate the inter-cluster reactivity of the metallo-aromatic (Al4Li- and Al4Na-) and anti-aromatic (Al4Li4 and Al4Na4) compounds.

CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.
