Identification of novel small molecule inhibitors of ETS transcription factors

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
ETS transcription factors play an essential role in tumourigenesis and are indispensable for sprouting angiogenesis, a hallmark of cancer, which fuels tumour expansion and dissemination. Thus, targeting ETS transcription factor function could represent an effective, multifaceted strategy to block tumour growth. The evolutionarily conserved E‐Twenty‐Six

miRNA‐29 regulates epidermal and mesenchymal functions in skin repair

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
miRNA‐29 inhibits cell‐to‐cell and cell‐to‐matrix adhesion by silencing mRNA targets. Adhesion is controlled by complex interactions between many types of molecules coded by mRNAs. This is crucial for keeping together the layers of the skin and for regenerating the skin after wounding.

Dataset of Fluorescence Spectra and Chemical Parameters of Olive Oils [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
This dataset encompasses fluorescence spectra and chemical parameters of 24 olive oil samples from the 2019-2020 harvest provided by the producer Conde de Benalua, Granada, Spain. The oils are characterized by different qualities: 10 extra virgin olive oil (EVOO), 8 virgin olive oil (VOO), and 6 lampante olive oil (LOO) samples.

Spot‐14 and its paralog Spot‐14R regulate expression of metabolic and thermogenic pathway genes in murine brown and beige adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Spot‐14 and Spot‐14R play distinct roles in regulating metabolism in brown and beige adipocytes. While both influence lipid and glucose pathways, Spot‐14 uniquely controls thermogenic gene expression. This dual regulation balances energy storage and heat production, highlighting potential therapeutic targets for obesity and metabolic disorders. Spot 14

Towards slime mould chemical sensor: Mapping chemical inputs onto electrical potential dynamics of Physarum Polycephalum [PDF]

open access: yesSensors and Actuators B: Chemical 191 (2014) 844-853, 2013
We experimentally derived a unique one-to-one mapping between a range of selected bioactive chemicals and patterns of oscillations of the slime mould's extacellular electrical potential.

Sulfonated poly (fluorenyl ether ketone nitrile) membranes used for high temperature PEM fuel cell

open access: yesHeliyon, 2020
A series of sulfonated poly (fluorenyl ether ketone nitrile)s with different equivalent weights (EW) ranging from 681 to 369 g mequiv.−1 were used to assemble a series of single proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFC) in their turns.

Interaction vesicles as emerging mediators of host‐pathogen molecular crosstalk and their implications for infection dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Interaction extracellular vesicles (iEVs) are hybrid vesicles formed through host‐pathogen communication. They facilitate immune evasion, transfer pathogens' molecules, increase host cell uptake, and enhance virulence. This Perspective article illustrates the multifunctional roles of iEVs and highlights their emerging relevance in infection dynamics ...

STAT3 expression is reduced in cardiac pericytes in HFpEF and its loss reduces cellular adhesion and induces pericyte senescence

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) accounts for half of the heart failure cases. It is characterised by microvascular dysfunction, associated with reduced pericyte coverage and diminished STAT3 expression in pericytes. Loss of STAT3 impairs pericyte adhesion, promotes senescence, and activates a pro‐fibrotic gene program.
