Gradient and vorticity banding [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
"Banded structures" of macroscopic dimensions can be induced by simple shear flow in many different types of soft matter systems. Depending on whether these bands extend along the gradient or vorticity direction, the banding transition is referred to as "

Effect of Chemical and Hand thinning on the Fruit Biochemical Properties of ‘Khadrawi’ Date Palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.) during Fruit Development [PDF]

open access: yesMajallah-i ̒Ulum-i Bāghbānī
IntroductionThe date palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.) tree tolerate high temperatures, drought and salinity more than other fruit crop, that is why date palm tree is named the tree of life in the desert.

Evaluarea produsului Brevis la normarea încărcăturii de rod în coroana pomilor de păr din soiul RX 1247

open access: yesAgricultural Science, 2021
The study subject of the experience was RX 1247 pear variety, grafted on BA 29 rootstock. The trees were trained as slender spindle system. The distance of plantation is 4.0x2.0 m.

Deep lithospheric dynamics beneath the Sierra Nevada during the Mesozoic and Cenozoic as inferred from xenolith petrology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Peridotite xenoliths erupted in late Miocene basalts (~8 Ma) in the central Sierra Nevada sample a lithosphere that is vertically stratified in terms of age and thermal history.

Influence of several methods of flower and fruitlet thinning on the yield and quality of Gala Must apples

open access: yesActa Scientiarum Polonorum: Hortorum Cultus
Apple trees of the Gala Must, grafted onto the dwarfing M.9 rootstock, planted in 2014 at a spacing of 3.5×1.8 m, were subjected to flower and fruitlet thinning in 2022–2024.

Thickness dependence of magnetic properties of (Ga,Mn)As

open access: yes, 2012
We report on a monotonic reduction of Curie temperature in dilute ferromagnetic semiconductor (Ga,Mn)As upon a well controlled chemical-etching/oxidizing thinning from 15 nm down to complete removal of the ferro- magnetic response.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Shear flow effects on phase separation of entangled polymer blends [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
We introduce an entanglement model mixing rule for stress relaxation in a polymer blend to a modified Cahn-Hilliard equation of motion for concentration fluctuations in the presence of shear flow.

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.
