Strand thinning of Khadrawi date palm cultivar in relation to yield and fruit quality

open access: yesBulletin of the National Research Centre, 2019
Background This experiment was carried out during 2015 and 2016 seasons to investigate the effect of strand thinning treatments by removing 15 and 30% of the total number of strands from the bunch center after 8 weeks from pollination (kimri stage) on ...

Spreading of a surfactant monolayer on a thin liquid film: Onset and evolution of digitated structures [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
We describe the response of an insoluble surfactant monolayer spreading on the surface of a thin liquid film to small disturbances in the film thickness and surfactant concentration.

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Comparison among chemical thinners applied to ‘Maciel’ and ‘Sensação’ peach trees

open access: yesBioscience Journal, 2020
Peach tree thinning, which aims at reducing plant load so as to ensure productivity and fruit quality, has been manually carried out within a short period of time in the stage of fruit development.

A consistent dimensional analysis of gas–liquid mass transfer in an aerated stirred tank containing purely viscous fluids with shear-thinning properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper deals with gas–liquid mass transfer in an aerated stirred tank containing Newtonian or shearthinning fluids. The aim is to demonstrate that, for a given mixing system, an unique dimensionless correlation gathering all the mass transfer rates (

Applicability of mitotic figure counting by deep learning: a development and pan‐cancer validation study

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In this study, we developed a deep learning method for mitotic figure counting in H&E‐stained whole‐slide images and evaluated its prognostic impact in 13 external validation cohorts from seven different cancer types. Patients with more mitotic figures per mm2 had significantly worse patient outcome in all the studied cancer types except colorectal ...

Proteasomal degradation of intracellularly expressed Amblyomin‐X limits suicide gene therapy potential in melanoma cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.

Advancements in orchard thinning technologies: A comprehensive review

open access: yesSmart Agricultural Technology
Effective bloom and fruitlet thinning are essential for orchard administration to maximize fruit quality, size, and productivity. Conventional methods, such as chemical and physical thinning, are still widely used but have significant drawbacks.

Quality of 'Ponkan' tangerines according to chemical thinning regularity

open access: yesPesquisa Agropecuária Tropical, 2012
Researches suggest that the chemical thinning with appropriate phytoregulators concentrations must be used for more than one year, in order to improve the quality of 'Ponkan' tangerines.

Chemical Bloom Thinning Hybrid Grape Cultivars [PDF]

open access: yesSmall Fruits Review, 2005
Abstract Caustic chemicals (Endothall, Wilthin and ammonium thiosulfate) were applied at bloom to French-American hybrid grape cultivars (‘Seyval blanc’, ‘Vidal blanc’, and ‘Chambourcin’) to evaluate their potential as chemical thinners. The chemicals caused phytotoxicity to leaves and clusters resulting in brown, dead spots on leaves and brown areas ...
