Acetylcholine From Solitary Chemosensory Cell, Not Neuron, Regulates Basal Cell Fate Driving Eosinophilic Chronic Rhinosinusitis With Nasal Polyps

open access: yesAllergy, Volume 81, Issue 5, Page 1617-1634, May 2026.
This study identifies that Ach levels are elevated in eCRSwNP and primarily released from SCCs rather than neurons. Ach induces epithelial remodeling in eCRSwNP by binding to M1R/M3R and activating YAP signaling in basal cells, driving basal cell hyperplasia and abnormal differentiation. Blocking M1R/M3R with TB inhibits eCRSwNP progression.

Identifying Biomarkers of the MHC Gene to Investigate Chemosensory Discrimination

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, 2008
To better understand the mechanisms underlying the major histocompatibility complex (MHC)‐dependent chemosensory signals, it is critical to chemically identify MHC‐dependent odorants. Urine samples from MHC‐genotyped mice were analyzed using capillary gas chromatography.

From Development to Aging: Dynamic Roles of the Thymic Medulla in T Cell Biology

open access: yesImmunological Reviews, Volume 339, Issue 1, May 2026.
ABSTRACT The thymic medulla is essential for establishing central tolerance, orchestrating the development of a diverse yet self‐tolerant T cell repertoire, and preventing autoimmunity. This process is primarily mediated through interactions between developing thymocytes and antigen‐presenting cells, including thymic epithelial cells (TECs) and ...

Sex- and Tissue-Specific Expression Profiles of Odorant Binding Protein and Chemosensory Protein Genes in Bradysia odoriphaga (Diptera: Sciaridae)

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2018
Bradysia odoriphaga is an agricultural pest insect affecting the production of Chinese chive and other liliaceous vegetables in China, and it is significantly attracted by sex pheromones and the volatiles derived from host plants. Despite verification of

Most \u3cem\u3eCaenorhabditis elegans\u3c/em\u3e MicroRNAs are Individually Not Essential for Development or Viability [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
MicroRNAs (miRNAs), a large class of short noncoding RNAs found in many plants and animals, often act to post-transcriptionally inhibit gene expression. We report the generation of deletion mutations in 87 miRNA genes in Caenorhabditis elegans, expanding

Identification of candidate chemosensory genes of Ophraella communa LeSage (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) based on antennal transcriptome analysis

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2019
Antennal olfaction plays a key role in insect survival, which mediates important behaviors like host search, mate choice, and oviposition site selection.

Identification and Comparison of Chemosensory Genes in the Antennal Transcriptomes of Eucryptorrhynchus scrobiculatus and E. brandti Fed on Ailanthus altissima

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2018
The key to the coexistence of two or more species on the same host is ecological niche separation. Adult Eucryptorrhynchus scrobiculatus and E. brandti both feed on the tree of heaven, Ailanthus altissima, but on different sections of the plant ...

Non-synaptic inhibition between grouped neurons in an olfactory circuit. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Diverse sensory organs, including mammalian taste buds and insect chemosensory sensilla, show a marked compartmentalization of receptor cells; however, the functional impact of this organization remains unclear.

Genome-Wide Comparative Analysis of Chemosensory Gene Families in Five Tsetse Fly Species.

open access: yesPLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases, 2016
For decades, odour-baited traps have been used for control of tsetse flies (Diptera; Glossinidae), vectors of African trypanosomes. However, differential responses to known attractants have been reported in different Glossina species, hindering ...
