A new xyloside from Chenopodium album

Natural Product Research, 2005
The isolation and the structure determination of an unusual xyloside from the plant Chenopodium album is reported. The structure has been attributed by means of its spectral data.

Chenopodium album L. Chenopodium album L., Sp. Pl. 1: 219 (1753). The circumscription of this critical taxon requires further studies. Native status Native. Conservation status Least Concern (LC). EOO 107,000 km 2, AOO 92 km 2. This common species is an apophyte in Orenburg Region, without a tendency to decline.

A growth inhibitory factor from lambsquarters (Chenopodium album)

Aqueous extract of air-dried lambsquarters (Chenopodium album) at 25 mg/ml significantly inhibited germination and growth of radish and wheat seeds. Soybean seed germination was not inhibited; however, hypocotyl growth was significantly reduced. Germination of radish seeds in sand amended with pulverized lambsquarters shoots at 2 and 4 mg/g was reduced
