Association of Iron Deposition in Early-Stage Multiple Sclerosis Lesion with Remyelination Capacity: chi-separation imaging study

ISMRM Annual Meeting
Motivation: In multiple sclerosis (MS) lesion, factors influencing myelin dynamics and future remyelination are under active investigation. Goal(s): To assess dynamic changes of MS lesions from their early stage and explore the factors related to their future remyelination outcomes.

Multi-compartment susceptibility source separation (mc-chi-separation) using GRE data only: Integrated model of QSM and myelin water imaging

ISMRM Annual Meeting
Motivation: Chi-separation enables separate estimation of diamagnetic myelin and paramagnetic iron, but requires quantitative R2 measurements, limiting its application. Goal(s): To develop a new chi-separation method combining both macroscopic and microscopic field perturbation information to perform chi-separation using only GRE data.

Visualization of iron and myelin cytoarchitecture in postmortem human brain using sub-millimeter multi-orientation chi- separation

ISMRM Annual Meeting
Motivation: While high-resolution quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) reveals unprecedented anatomical cytoarchitectures, delineation of certain substructures may be limited in regions containing both iron and myelin. Goal(s): To demonstrate iron and myelin-specific anatomy inside human brain using sub-millimeter susceptibility source-separation (

In-vivo delineation of fine structures in the human brain using high resolution deep learning-powered chi-separation

ISMRM Annual Meeting
Fine structures in the human brain are delineated in the positive and negative susceptibility maps reconstructed in less than 25 min of scan time. The reconstruction pipeline consists of four deep learning networks, each of which performs multi-echo denoising, QSM reconstruction, χ-separation, and super-resolution.
