Exact distribution of the sum of two correlated chi-square variables and its application

open access: yesKuwait Journal of Science, 2013
The exact distribution of the sum of two chi-square random variables is known if the variables are independent. We derive the exact distribution of the sum of two correlated chi-square variables when they are correlated through a bivariate chi-square ...

Detection of active eavesdropper in large scale planar arrays

open access: yesDianzi Jishu Yingyong, 2018
Physical layer security(PLS) is efficient in providing security for wireless communications and in relaxing the complexity of the required cryptographic technologies. A PLS method, i.e. detection of active eavesdropper, using large scale planar arrays is

Paternal shift-working and sleep disorders in children affected by primary nocturnal enuresis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Objectives: Primary monosymptomatic nocturnal enuresis (PMNE) is a common problem in childhood and studies about the sleep habits of affected children are not conclusive.

The anti‐CRISPR protein AcrIE8.1 inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system by directly binding to the Cascade subunit Cas11

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we present the structure of AcrIE8.1, a previously uncharacterized anti‐CRISPR protein that inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system. Through a combination of structural and biochemical analyses, we demonstrate that AcrIE8.1 directly binds to the Cas11 subunit of the Cascade complex to inhibit the CRISPR‐Cas system.

Tutorial on Bonferroni Correction as a Post Hoc Analysis of a Significant Chi-Squared Test: A Methodological Guide in Food Science [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Food Quality and Hazards Control
Background: In medical research, analyzing the relationship between two categorical variables is common. While chi-square tests (e.g., Pearson's, McNemar's, and Cochran-Mantel-Haenszel) can determine if a significant association exists, they do not ...

The heavy-tailed chi-square model: properties, estimation and application to wind speed data

open access: yesAIMS Mathematics
In this article, we introduced an extension of the chi-square distribution by employing a slash-type methodology that enhanced the weight of the right tail, thereby producing a heavy-tailed distribution.

The extended Burr-R class: properties, applications and modified test for censored data

open access: yesAIMS Mathematics, 2021
This article introduces a new three-parameter Marshall-Olkin Burr-R (MOB-R) family which extends the generalize Burr-G class. Some of its general properties are discussed.

Molecular bases of circadian magnesium rhythms across eukaryotes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Circadian rhythms in intracellular [Mg2+] exist across eukaryotic kingdoms. Central roles for Mg2+ in metabolism suggest that Mg2+ rhythms could regulate daily cellular energy and metabolism. In this Perspective paper, we propose that ancestral prokaryotic transport proteins could be responsible for mediating Mg2+ rhythms and posit a feedback model ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Orofacial Cleft Frequency Differences Depending on Geographic Origin: Coast vs. Inland

open access: yesFrontiers in Dental Medicine, 2021
Objective: Cleft lip and/or palate is the most common congenital anomaly in a human face, with a multifactorial and complex etiology. Although many studies have been developed, the role of the environment is still unclear.
