Sensory analysis of heated sodium alginate film flavored with chicken stock [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The spread of non-communicable diseases (NCD) is considered one of the top health problems worldwide. A low intake of fruits and vegetables in conjunction with a high consumption of foods rich in saturated and trans fats, salt and sugar has been reported

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Single-cell RNA sequencing uncovers cellular heterogeneity of granulosa cells and provides a signature for follicular development in chicken

open access: yesPoultry Science
Functional differentiation of the granulosa cell (GC) layer plays an essential role in follicular development and oocyte maturation in birds. However, despite the importance of GCs, heterogeneity within the granulosa layer across poultry species remains ...

Controlling Listeria monocytogenes on ready-to-eat poultry products using carboxymethylcellulose film coatings containing green tea extract (GTE) combined with nisin and malic acid [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The ability to control Listeria monocytogenes on ready-to-eat poultry products using carboxymethyl-cellulose film coatings containing green tea extract (GTE), malic acid (M), nisin (N), and their combinations was evaluated. The antimicrobials (GTE: 1.0%,

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

The SNPs C.513A>T in the MHC B-F gene and rs15001532 in the SPOCK1 gene are associated with Salmonella pullorum disease resistance in chickens

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Agriculture, 2016
This study was designed to identify molecular markers single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of MHC B-F gene and SPOCK1) associated with Salmonella pullorum disease susceptibility/resistance. A two-stage case-control association study was used.
