History. A dead 17-day-old chicken embryo was detected during routine work on virus cultivation in chicken embryos. The embryos were obtained from white leghorn hens from Northern Hatcheries, Ludhiana, India. The birds at the hatchery were kept under a deep-litter system with adequate sanitary provisions.
