Chill unit models for the sweet cherry cvs Stella, Sunburst and Summit

The Journal of Horticultural Science and Biotechnology, 2000
SummaryBud break of one year old cut shoots of sweet cherry cvs Stella, Summit and Sunburst was recorded to quantify the effect of chilling on dormancy release. Chilling was applied in the dark at constant temperatures of ‒1.2°C, 3.8°C, 6.8°C, 9.4°C, 11.9°C and 15.4°C (± 0.5°C) for 0,168, 336, 504, 672, 840, 1008, 1176 and 1334 h.

Further optimization on Type II terminal unit in active chilled beam system

2017 IEEE 26th International Symposium on Industrial Electronics (ISIE), 2017
In this paper, we perform a series of regression analysis on Type II terminal unit proposed in [1]. More geometric details are investigated for enhancing the entrainment performance of the terminal unit. A further simplified CFD model of the terminal unit is built for facilitating the simulation process. The structure of terminal unit is separated into

Chilling unit accumulation and forcing effects on carbohydrates of young apple rootstocks

Journal of Horticultural Science, 1992
Sucrose, glucose, hexose (glucose + fructose), and sorbitol were measured enzymatically in root and shoot tissues of young apple (Malus x domestica Borkh.) MM. Ill rootstocks during rest (0 to 2400 chilling units (CU) and 0 to 36 days of forcing (DF). Changes in starch and sorbitol concentrations during chilling and forcing were variable.

Productivity Improvements at Direct Chill Casting unit in Aluminium Bahrain (ALBA)

2011
ALBA has been producing Rolling Ingots utilizing two DC casting units viz., DC1 & DC6. Out of total annual production of 140,000 MT of Rolling Ingot, DC6 production was 100,000 MT (1xxx, 3xxx & 8xxx series alloys) while DC1 production was 40,000 MT of 5xxx series alloy. Due to higher cost of production & low productivity at DC1, ALBA management decided

Increased Copper Concentration in Water from Chilling Units with Copper Evaporator Coils

The Progressive Fish-Culturist, 1992
Abstract Water chilled for 14 d in static systems by two different chillers with copper evaporator coils was analyzed for total copper concentration. Much higher copper levels (361–394 μg/L) were recorded in water from tanks with chillers than in water from control tanks (18 μg/L).

Geometric optimization on active chilled beam terminal unit to achieve high entrainment efficiency

Applied Thermal Engineering, 2016
In this paper, a novel structure of terminal unit is investigated to achieve high entrainment of room air. The energy efficiency of the whole system can thus be increased. Firstly, entrainment ratio of a commercial terminal unit is tested with a series of experiments.

Parameter Estimation for Lumped Capacitance Modeling of CRAH Units During Chilled Water Interruption

Volume 1: Thermal Management, 2015
Lumped capacitance models have been introduced to study transient thermal response of data centers. Chilled water interruption of a Computer Room Air Handling (CRAH) unit is one of several failure scenarios of data center cooling infrastructures.

Has Welfare Reform Created “Chilling Effects” for Refugees in the United States?

International Migration Review, 2004
The welfare reform legislation of 1996 significantly reduced noncitizens’ access to public benefits. Research has indicated that welfare reform has had unintended “chilling effects,” whereby even those noncitizens who remain eligible for benefits do not utilize them because of fear and confusion.
