The effects of climate change on the flowering phenology of alder trees in southwestern Europe
Global warming impacts plant phenology and the effect of climate change will be more intensely experienced at the edges of a plant's distribution. This work focuses on Iberian alder's climatic range (Alnus lusitanica Vít, Douda & Mandák).

SIMULATION OF HOURLY TEMPERATURES AND ESTIMATION OF CHILL UNITS.
A model [HeatSine-Exponential (HSE)] for the course of diurnal temperatures was validated with forty-three years of hourly temperatures from the Salt Lake City (Utah) airport. Daily parameters of the HSE model were determined by non-linear regression analysis. The HSE was compared to linear and other sine-exponential formulations. The HSE model had the

The possible role of chilling in floral and vegetative bud dormancy release in Pyrus pyrifolia
The role of chilling in bud dormancy release and biochemical changes in different organs were evaluated in stem cuttings of pear (Pyrus pyrifolia) cv. Cuiguan selected at the leaf fall.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.
