New Cyber Word Discovery Using Chinese Word Segmentation
2019 IEEE 3rd Information Technology, Networking, Electronic and Automation Control Conference (ITNEC), 2019Increasing new cyber words, if they could not be effectively identified, will seriously affect the accuracy of word segmentation, and bring great difficulties to the related work. In order to solve the problem that the Web text is not specific and the content is short, this paper proposes a new word discovery method combined with statistics and rules ...

Chinese readers utilize emotion information for word segmentation
Psychonomic Bulletin & Review, 2023We reported a large-scale Internet-based experiment to investigate the impact of emotion information on Chinese word segmentation, in which participants completed an overlapping ambiguous string (OAS) segmentation task and the Chinese version of Beck Depression Inventory-II in a counterbalanced order.

Self-Supervised Chinese Word Segmentation
2001We propose a new unsupervised training method for acquiring probability models that accurately segment Chinese character sequences into words. By constructing a core lexicon to guide unsupervised word learning, self-supervised segmentation overcomes the local maxima problems that hamper standard EM training.

Research of automatic Chinese word segmentation
Proceedings. International Conference on Machine Learning and Cybernetics, 2003Automatic Chinese word segmentation is the fundamental task of Chinese information processing. At present ambiguous phrase segmentation and proper name recognition are two obstacles to the performances of Chinese word segmentation systems. We apply a corpus-based method to extract various language phenomena from real texts, and combine a statistical ...

Word Segmentation for Chinese Judicial Documents
2019Word segmentation is an integral step in many knowledge discovery applications. However, existing word segmentation methods have problems when applying to Chinese judicial documents: (1) existing methods rely on large-scale labeled data which is typically unavailable in judicial documents, and (2) judicial document has its own language features and ...

Words without Boundaries: Computational Approaches to Chinese Word Segmentation
Language and Linguistics Compass, 2012AbstractThe fact that words are not conventionally demarcated in Chinese orthography makes the process of word segmentation non‐trivial. Chinese word segmentation remains a challenging topic in Chinese computational linguistics. We survey previous approaches to Chinese word segmentation, including dictionary look‐up, strength of internal binding, as ...

A quick method for Chinese word segmentation
1997 IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Processing Systems (Cat. No.97TH8335), 2002Word segmentation is the first and therefore a fundamental step for Chinese information processing. We propose a character matching based method for Chinese word segmentation, which is much quicker than almost all present word matching based methods.
