Flexible chiral metamaterials with dynamically optical activity and high negative refractive index
We demonstrate numerically and experimentally chiral metamaterials (MTMs) based on gammadion-bilayer cross-wires that uniaxially create giant optical activity and tunable circular dichroism as a result of the dynamic design.

Transducers convert physical signals into electrical and optical representations, yet each mechanism is bounded by intrinsic trade‐offs across bandwidth, sensitivity, speed, and energy. This review maps transduction mechanisms across physical scale and frequency, showing how heterogeneous integration and multiphysics co‐design transform isolated ...

Reconnaissance Peptide Labeling Grain Boundary of Chemically Grown MoS2 Polycrystalline Monolayer
Self‐assembled peptides on substrates, through adsorption and aggregation, offer an alternative way to label grain boundaries in chemically grown single‐layer polycrystalline MoS2. During an early nucleation step, peptides preferentially bind to grain boundaries.

Chiral Cherenkov radiation at time-dependent chiral chemical potential
We study the photon production process f → f + γ in the presence of a time-dependent chiral chemical potential μ5. Using the ultra-relativistic approximation, we demonstrate validity of the adiabatic approximation.

Chiral symmetry breaking occurs when a physical or chemical process spontaneously generates a large excess of one of the two enantiomers - left-handed (L) or right-handed (D) - with no preference as to which of the two enantiomers is produced.

Large Faraday rotation at room temperature is observed in thin films of discotic copper (Cu2+: 3d9) and vanadyl (VO2+: 3d1) enaminoketone complexes. The large Verdet constant originates from a high density of paramagnetic centers, metal‐ligand p−d hybridization and π orbitals involved in optical transitions (identified by DFT calculations), as well as ...

A proline‐integrated donor–acceptor fluorophore enables multifunctional luminescence through rational molecular design. Water‐vapor‐responsive mechanochromic luminescence (MCL) with circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) switching and efficient visualization of latent fingerprints (LFPs) are realized from this single small organic molecule.

Associating a chiral bent core liquid crystal molecule, that self‐assembles into helical nanofilaments, with an achiral red‐NIR phosphorescent octahedral molybdenum cluster produces a hybrid material exhibiting efficient red‐NIR circularly polarized emission under UV excitation.
