Enantiospecific electrodeposition of a chiral catalyst

open access: yesNature, 2003
Many biomolecules are chiral--they can exist in one of two enantiomeric forms that only differ in that their structures are mirror images of each other. Because only one enantiomer tends to be physiologically active while the other is inactive or even toxic, drug compounds are increasingly produced in an enantiomerically pure form using solution-phase ...

Enantiospecific electrodeposition of chiral CuO films on Cu(110) from aqueous Cu(II) tartrate and amino acid complexes

open access: yesElectrochimica Acta, 2007
CuO films were anodically electrodeposited onto Cu(1 1 0) single crystals from alkaline solutions of Cu(II) complexed with tartrate, alanine, valine, and glycine. In all cases the films were epitaxial, exhibiting varying amounts of the chiral orientations (1 1 0) and (1 1 0).
