A smart “Swiss-knife” dithiaaza[7]helicene electroactive tool: adding 3D push-pull features to inherent chirality and film electrodeposition ability [PDF]

open access: yesElectrochimica Acta
A new dithiaaza[7]helicene of remarkably multifaceted nature and functional properties is introduced and studied by comparison with a pool of simpler thia-or azahelicenes and related model molecules. Its helical conjugated backbone endows it with interesting spectroscopic and electrochemical features as well as with powerful inherent chirality.

Influence of Chiral Compounds on the Oxygen Evolution Reaction (OER) in the Water Splitting Process [PDF]

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
Results are presented concerning the influence on the water splitting process of enantiopure tartaric acid present in bulk solution. Stainless steel and electrodeposited nickel are used as working electrode (WE) surface.

Breaking of Odd Chirality in Magnetoelectrodeposition

open access: yesMagnetochemistry, 2022
Electrodeposition under magnetic fields (magnetoelectrodeposition; MED) can induce surface chirality on copper films. The chiral signs of MED films should depend on the magnetic field polarity; namely, the reversal of the magnetic field causes the ...

Spin control using chiral templated nickel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
This Letter reports an original spin valve device that is based on a chiral templated nickel material. Chirality in Ni is induced by exploiting co-electrodeposition of an organic chiral template.

Chirality of electrodeposits grown in a magnetic field [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2004
Electrodeposits grown around a point cathode in a flat, horizontal electrochemical cell have fractal form. When grown in the presence of a perpendicular applied magnetic field, the deposits develop a spiral structure with chirality which reverses on switching the field direction.

Electrode Applications Using Organic Thin Films with Three-Dimensional Structures

open access: yesElectrochemistry, 2023
The influence of nano- and micro-structures on various physicochemical phenomena is a subject of interest to many researchers. Physicochemical reactions at solid/electrolyte interfaces, such as crystallization, metal complex formation, adsorption, and ...

Surface chirality induced by rotational electrodeposition in magnetic fields [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2013
The surfaces of minerals could serve important catalytic roles in the prebiotic syntheses of organic molecules, such as amino acids. Thus, the surface chirality is responsible for the asymmetric syntheses of biomolecules. Here, we show induction of the surface chirality of copper metal film by electrodeposition via electrochemical cell rotation in ...

Zinc oxide/Vancomycin-based Electrochemical Chiral Sensor for the Recognition of Penicillamine Enantiomers

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2020
In this study, an electrochemical chiral sensor based on Zinc oxide/vancomycin-modified indium tin oxide glass substrate (ZnO/Van/ITO) was successfully fabricated and used in the chiral recognition of penicillamine (Pen) enantiomers.

Optimizing the Electrodeposition Protocol of Enantioselective Inherently Chiral Electrode Surfaces : a Multi-Technique Investigation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
We have recently introduced [1-2] "inherently chiral" enantiopure electrode surfaces of outstanding chirality manifestations, including circularly polarized luminescence, reversibly potential-driven circular dichroism, and large potential differences for
