Monopoles, Clarified

open access: yesFortschritte der Physik, Volume 74, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT We propose a manifestly duality‐invariant, Lorentz‐invariant, and local action to describe quantum electrodynamics in the presence of magnetic monopoles that derives from Sen's formalism. By employing field strengths as the dynamical variables, rather than potentials, this formalism resolves longstanding ambiguities in prior frameworks.

ADDENDUM TO DELTA-S=1-CHIRAL LAGRANGIANS REVISITED [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
The published version is located at http://prd.aps.org/abstract/PRD/v36/i11/p3516_1It is shown that the number of independent four-derivative quartic chiral Lagrangians which can contribute to the quadratic Dalitz-plot parameters of K3π is four.3516 ...

Comment on “Primary Dimensions”

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
We show that the concept of primary dimensions, first introduced in [1] as an organizing principle for chiral Lagrangians, is inconsistent. Although this had been pointed out already in [2], the notion of primary dimensions has re-appeared in recent ...

The pion mass and decay constant at three loops in two-flavour chiral perturbation theory

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2017
A calculation of the pion mass and decay constant at NNNLO in two-flavour chiral perturbation theory is presented. The results are cross-checked by using both the exponential and square root parametrizations of the Goldstone matrix field, as well as by ...

Heating neutron stars with GeV dark matter

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2020
An old neutron star (NS) may capture halo dark matter (DM) and get heated up by the deposited kinetic energy, thus behaving like a thermal DM detector with sensitivity to a wide range of DM masses and a variety of DM-quark interactions.

Chiral Lagrangian with confinement from the QCD Lagrangian [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2002
An effective Lagrangian for the light quark in the field of a static source is derived systematically using the exact field correlator expansion. The lowest Gaussian term is bosonized using nonlocal colorless bosonic fields and a general structure of effective chiral Lagrangian is obtained containing all set of fields.

Quantum GraviElectro Dynamics

open access: yesAnnalen der Physik, Volume 538, Issue 1, January 2026.
The BRST invariant Lagrangian of the gravitationally interacting U(1)$U(1)$ gauge theory, namely the Quantum GraviElectro Dynamics (QGED). The Yan–Mills theory with the Hilbert–Einstein gravitational Lagrangian, namely the Yang–Mills–Utiyama (YMU) theory, is defined and quantised using the standard procedure. The theory is perturbatively renormalisable,

From quarks to nucleons in dark matter direct detection

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2017
We provide expressions for the nonperturbative matching of the effective field theory describing dark matter interactions with quarks and gluons to the effective theory of nonrelativistic dark matter interacting with nonrelativistic nucleons.

Generalized positivity bounds on chiral perturbation theory

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2020
Recently, a new set of positivity bounds with t derivatives have been discovered. We explore the generic features of these generalized positivity bounds with loop amplitudes and apply these bounds to constrain the parameters in chiral perturbation theory
