Cyclodextrin Derivatives as Chiral Supramolecular Receptors for Enantioselective Sensing

open access: yesSensors, 2006
In view of the chiral nature of many bio-molecules (and all bio-macromolecules),most of therapeutically active compounds which target these molecules need to be chiraland “good handed” to be effective.

Detecting Antibody-Antigen Interactions with Chiral Plasmons: Factors Influencing Chiral Plasmonic Sensing

open access: yes, 2021
Chiral near fields possessing enhanced asymmetry (superchirality), created by the interaction of light with (chiral) nanostructures, potentially provide a route to novel sensing and metrology technologies for biophysical applications.

C2α‐carbanion‐protonating glutamate discloses tradeoffs between substrate accommodation and reaction rate in actinobacterial 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Enzymes of the 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase group catalyze the condensation of formyl‐CoA with aldehydes or ketones. Thus, by structural adaptation of active sites, practically any pharmaceutically and industrially important 2‐hydroxyacid could be biotechnologically synthesized. Combining crystal structure analysis, active site mutations and kinetic assays,

Evaluation of Electro-Optic Behaviour of Chiral Smetic Liquid Crystals Dispalys with V-shaped response [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
In the last years, chiral smectic liquid crystals with V-shaped electro-optic response have been reported as one of the most promising technologies for display applications.

Influence of Geometric Design on Mechanical Performance of Auxetic Metastructure

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Strategic geometric reinforcement transforms auxetic performance. This study evaluates 3D‐printed arrowhead metastructures, revealing that a modified design with local ring reinforcement suppresses premature failure to achieve superior energy absorption and structural efficiency.

Unwinding of a cholesteric liquid crystal and bidirectional surface anchoring

open access: yes, 2013
We examine the influence of bidirectional anchoring on the unwinding of a planar cholesteric liquid crystal induced by the application of a magnetic field. We consider a liquid crystal layer confined between two plates with the helical axis perpendicular

Generation of out-of-plane polarized spin current by spin swapping

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
The generation of spin currents and their application to the manipulation of magnetic states is fundamental to spintronics. Of particular interest are chiral antiferromagnets that exhibit properties typical of ferromagnetic materials even though they ...

Magnetic Control of Chiral Hybridized Phonon Magnetic Moments in Ferrimagnets Fe2‐xZnxMo3O8

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Helicity‐resolved magneto‐Raman spectroscopy reveals magnetic control of chiral phonon magnetic moments in polar ferrimagnet (ZnxFe2−xMo3O₈). Large spontaneous zero‐field phonon splittings, selective phonon–magnon coupling, and asymmetric Zeeman responses demonstrate that phonon chirality is governed by magnon‐phonon coupling and magnetization.

Chiral phenomena in magnetic multilayers

open access: yes, 2021
This thesis focused on chiral phenomena in thin magnetic layers. The three main points of the thesis are: Thin magnetic films with Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interactions are known to host skyrmion crystals, which typically have a hexagonal lattice structure.

Experimentally tunable chiral spin transfer torque in domain wall motion

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2016
Domain walls (DWs) can be moved very efficiently with nanosecond long current pulses in perpendicularly magnetized Co/Ni/Co nanowires formed with platinum under- and over-layers due to a chiral spin torque mechanism. In these structures the DWs exhibit a
