Chiral symmetry breaking in a finite volume
Physical Review D, 1994In the context of the $N$-component four-fermion model in 2+1 dimensions we investigate the effects of a finite volume and boundary conditions on chiral-symmetry restoration in the large-$N$ limit using the effective potential formalism. We obtain the critical lines, which separate the chirally symmetric phase from the broken phase, in terms of an ...

Nuclear Physics A, 1992
Abstract Recent developments related to chiral symmetry and its explicit breaking by quark masses are summarized. We discuss the status of the pion-nucleon sigma term and questions of threshold π° photoproduction.

Symmetries, chiral symmetry breaking, and renormalization
2021Abstract Most quantum field theories (QFT) of physical interest exhibit symmetries, exact symmetries or symmetries with soft (e.g. linear) breaking. This chapter deals only with linear continuous symmetries corresponding to compact Lie groups. When the bare action has symmetry properties, to preserve the symmetry it is first necessary to

Quark confinement and chiral-symmetry breaking
Il Nuovo Cimento A, 1984In the framework of non-Abelian gauge theories, having a confining gauge field propagator infra-red singular like 1/q4, we show that the full apparatus of the Schwinger-Dyson equations in the Landau gauge is consistent only if there is a solution of the self-mass equation which i) introduces a break down of the chiral symmetry and ii) gives an infrared

Effective potential and chiral symmetry breaking
Physical Review E, 2010The nonequilibrium effective potential is calculated for the Frank model of spontaneous mirror-symmetry breaking in chemistry in which external noise is introduced to account for random environmental effects. The well-mixed limit, corresponding to negligible diffusion, and the case of diffusion in two space dimensions are studied in detail. White noise

Chiral Symmetry Breaking in Livinig Systems
Mathematical Medicine and Biology, 1987By the methods of bifurcation theory the authors show that chiral symmetry breaking of molecular formation and morphogenesis does not occur in the absence of external fields, for general biochemical systems, regardless of the specific nonlinear chemical reaction scheme.

ON CHIRAL SYMMETRY BREAKING WITH MASSLESS FERMIONS
Modern Physics Letters A, 1994It is shown that Weyl spinors in Minkowski space are isomorphic to primary fields of half-integer conformal weights. This yields representations of fermionic two-point functions in terms of correlators of primary fields with a factorized transformation behavior under the Lorentz group.

Chiral-symmetry breaking in supersymmetric QCD
Physical Review Letters, 1991Supersymmetric QCD with large matter representations is analyzed in the ladder approximation. In the nonrunning limit we find that chiral-symmetry breaking takes place when the coupling constant exceeds a critical value equal to 3/2 times the critical coupling of ordinary QCD.
