Chirp-Compensated DBR Lasers for TWDM-PON Applications

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2015
We propose a novel chirp compensation scheme for directly modulated three-section distributed Bragg reflector (3s-DBR) lasers in applications of the time- and wavelength-division multiplexed passive optical network systems.

Experimental Evidence for the Impact of Copper Microstructure on Residual Stress of Through Silicon Via

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
The impact of Cu microstructure on the thermomechanical residual stress of TSVs with a diameter of 3 μm$\umu{\rm m}$ is investigated by comparing Raman stress imaging and EBSD grain characterization. By correlating Raman‐imaged TSV stress with Cu grain structure, direct experimental evidence is provided to highlight the direct correlation between ...

A TOPSAR Processing Algorithm Based on Extended Chirp Scaling: Evaluation with TerraSAR-X Data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This paper presents an efficient phase preserving processor for the TOPS (Terrain Observation by Progressive Scans) imaging mode. TOPS has been proposed as a new wide swath imaging mode, which solves the problems of scalloping and azimuth-varying ...

How Can Community Music Enhance Place‐Based Efforts to Create Greater Social Equity? Insights From an Australian Cultural Mapping Exercise

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Social Issues, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Social inequity is increasing in Australia, often manifesting in entrenched locational disadvantage that requires place‐based responses grounded in local strengths, knowledge and participation. While community music programmes have demonstrated a range of positive social outcomes, their potential contribution to place‐based efforts addressing ...

Optimal Particle Filters for Tracking a Time- Varying Harmonic or Chirp Signal

open access: yes, 2008
We consider the problem of tracking the time-varying (TV) parameters of a harmonic or chirp signal using particle filtering (PF) tools. Similar to previous PF approaches to TV spectral analysis, we assume that the model parameters (complex amplitude ...

Simulation Study of a Distributed Fiber Optic Vibration Sensing System Using Dual-Chirped Pulses and Frequency Division Multiplexing

open access: yesPhotonics
This paper proposes a distributed vibration sensing system based on dual-chirped pulses and weak fiber Bragg gratings. Compared with conventional dual-pulse heterodyne detection techniques, the proposed approach utilizes the time-frequency ...

Technology Transfer to Underwater Archaeology: The LAHKE Project at the Submerged Neolithic Site of La Marmotta

open access: yesArchaeological Prospection, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This document is a report on the field application of non‐invasive geophysical and robotic prospecting methods at the submerged Neolithic site of La Marmotta (Lake Bracciano, Italy), within the LAHKE (LAke Heritage Knowledge and Exploration) project; the study focuses on the practical validation, adaptation and transfer of existing ...

Embedding a Dinuclear Ru─Pt Photocatalyst Into Polyampholytic Graft Copolymer Matrix Enables Prolonged Hydrogen Evolution While Allowing Catalyst Repair

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
A unimolecular polyampholytic graft copolymer matrix provides a protective confinement for an electrostatically embedded tetrapyridophenazine‐bridged heterodinuclear Ru‐Pt hydrogen evolving photocatalyst. The matrix slows the degradation kinetics of the catalyst and at the same time does not hinder its repair by ammonium persulfate.

Chirp parameter estimation from a sample covariance matrix

open access: yes, 2001
This paper considers the problem of estimating the bandwidth and the center frequency of a linear chirp signal. The nonstationarity property of chirp signals implies that the signal has high rank and reduces the applicability of subspace-based algorithms

A Co‐Designed Implicit‐Reset Path PFD and Current Mismatch Compensated CP Enabling Sub‐0.5% Mismatch and Dead Zone‐Free for Low‐Spur PLLs

open access: yesInternational Journal of Circuit Theory and Applications, EarlyView.
A co‐designed implicit‐reset phase‐frequency detector (PFD) and nonlinear amplifier‐assisted charge pump (CP) achieve dead zone‐free operation from 10 MHz to 4.7 GHz with < 0.5% current mismatch without calibration, enabling −80 dBc of reference spur and 0.50 ps of RMS jitter in a 180 nm of CMOS PLL.
