Techniques for homodyne dechirp-on-receive linearly frequency modulated radar [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This thesis presents work done to extend and improve the operation of homodyne dechirp-on-receive linearly frequency modulated radars. First, an investigation of the effect of common phase errors on the point response function of the radar is ...

High‐Voltage Stability of LiCoO2 Cathode Materials Composited With Vanadium‐Based Glass Coatings

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Vanadium‐based glasses show fluidity and good wettability toward other materials at low temperatures. The controlled precipitation of nanocrystals in vanadium‐based glasses enhances the material's mechanical properties and electrical conductivity. The VPFL coatings bond to the LiCoO2 interface via chemical bonds.

Aspects of Radar Imaging Using Frequency-Stepped Chirp Signals

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2006
The high-resolution, frequency-stepped chirp signal can be applied to radar systems employing narrow-bandwidth chirp pulses, in order to enhance the range resolution, and to implement SAR/ISAR imaging capabilities.

Auditory gamma‐band synchronization and attentional performance in juvenile myoclonic epilepsy

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Cognitive difficulties in juvenile myoclonic epilepsy (JME) are part of the clinical phenotype alongside epileptic seizures; however, the underlying neurophysiological mechanisms remain unclear. Auditory steady‐state responses (ASSRs) to repetitive 40‐ and 80‐Hz stimuli are widely used measures of gamma‐band oscillations (GBOs ...

Evolutionary chirp representation of non-stationary signals via Gabor transform

open access: yes, 2001
In this paper, we propose a chirp time-frequency representation for non-stationary signals, and associate with it-via a multi-window Gabor expansion-the corresponding evolutionary spectra. Representations based on rectangular time-frequency plane tilings

3D chirp sub-bottom imaging system: design and first 3D volume

open access: yes, 2005
Chirp sub-bottom profilers are marine acoustic devices that use a known and repeatable source signature (1 – 24 kHz) to produce decimetre vertical resolution crosssections of the sub-seabed.

Beyond Prediction: Data, Baselines, Explanation, and Causation in Machine Learning for Food Insecurity

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
The gains from machine learning in nowcasting and forecasting food insecurity are still small and limited and cannot be observed in all countries. This review summarizes the public resources for data, corrects common misconceptions about model requirements, and establishes baseline requirements, explanations, causal inference, and equity in operational

Numerical analysis of pulse pedestal and dynamic chirp formation on picosecond modelocked laser pulses after propagation through a semiconductor optical amplifier [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
A numerical analysis, based on a modified Schrodinger equation, of the formation of pulse pedestals and dynamic chirp formation on picosecond pulses after propagation through a semiconductor optical amplifier is presented.

Common inputs to motor units are modulated by force profile and muscle length. [PDF]

open access: yesExp Physiol
Abstract Groups of motor units receive common synaptic inputs from specialized networks of premotor neurons to produce movement. Here, we test whether common inputs received by motor units in the first dorsal interosseous are fixed or task‐dependent during submaximal isometric contractions.
