Simultaneous ToF/FMCW LiDAR Using a Dual‐Mode Light Source in a Single Architecture
A simultaneous ToF/FMCW LiDAR architecture is demonstrated using a dual‐mode light source that alternately generates optical pulses and frequency‐chirped light within a single acquisition. By combining time‐domain ToF and coherent FMCW ranging, the system achieves high‐resolution ranging and velocity sensing while extending the measurable range beyond ...

Multispectral Mid‐Infrared Imaging With Incoherent Light via Adiabatic Upconversion
We demonstrate room‐temperature broadband MIR imaging based on adiabatic frequency upconversion, driven by a Q‐switched pump laser and incoherent illumination. The small‐foot‐print system upconverts the spectral range to the visible domain, without scanning, thermal control and with spatial resolution below 20μm$20\mathrm{\mu}\mathrm{m}$.

Two‐Photon Endomicroscopy for Image‐Guided Magnetic Micro‐Agents
Image‐guided manipulation of magnetic micro‐agents requires localized fluorescence feedback capable of resolving dynamic interactions in confined environments. This study introduces a two‐photon endomicroscopy platform for real‐time motion tracking, multicolor micro‐agent discrimination, and imaging through biological tissue.

Lightweight Detection of Inserted Chirp Symbols in Radio Transmission from Commercial UAVs
Most small, commercial unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) maintain continuous two-way radio communication with the controller. Signals emitted by the UAVs can be used for detection of their presence, but as these drones use unlicensed frequency bands that ...

The application of air-coupled ultrasonic systems and signal processing to the interrogation of concrete [PDF]
This thesis describes the application of ultrasound to the interrogation of concrete for the retrieval of quantitative information. In particular the use of air-coupled ultrasound is applied for the first time with recent improvement in ultrasonic ...

Robust and accurate frequency and timing synchronization using chirp signals
We propose a new robust and accurate synchronization procedure using a training sequence composed of chirp signals. We use a new integer frequency estimation algorithm and propose a new combination of a known fractional frequency offset estimation ...

Managing Robot Perception: How Families Present Their Faces to a Toy Robot
Playing with a robot's face detection capabilities constitutes a praxeological approach to learning about new technology. We explore how family members discover suitable formations for a Cozmo robot to scan a single face, drawing on video recordings from Swedish homes. Taking an ethnomethodology and conversation‐analysis perspective, we demonstrate how

Self-Authentication of Audio Signals by Chirp Coding [PDF]
This paper discusses a new approach to ‘watermarking’ digital signals using linear frequency modulated or ‘chirp’ coding. The principles underlying this approach are based on the use of a matched filter to provide a reconstruction of a chirped code that ...

Numerous studies have shown that during the Quaternary there were substantial fluctuations in sea level in response to glacial–interglacial climate variability, reaching lowstand positions up to 134 m below the present sea level (b.s.l.). These fluctuations have had a strong influence on the morphology of shallow shelf seas, which preserve evidence of ...

ABSTRACT Derelict fishing gear can negatively affect marine ecosystems through mortality in coastal environments. This study explored the impact of derelict and active crab pots on recreational blue crab (Callinectes sapidus) catch rates and landings in a Mid‐Atlantic estuary by deploying experimental pots in four habitat strata within three sections ...
