Biopolymer Membranes for Osmotic Power Generation in Bionic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review provides an overview of biopolymer‐based osmotic power generation for bionic applications. It uniquely bridges biopolymer membranes, reverse electrodialysis(RED), and bionic applications, addressing a critical research gap by integrating biopolymer membranes with RED technologies for biomedical use.

Affinity of rhizobacterial chitinases towards chitin polymers from shrimp exoskeleton and fungal cell wall: Optimization for effective biocontrol potentials

open access: yesCarbohydrate Polymer Technologies and Applications
Bacteria that can hydrolyze shrimp shell chitin and fungal cell wall chitin were isolated from tomato rhizosphere soil in an effort to find chitin-degrading enzymes. Extracellular nature of chitinase was confirmed in agarose-chitin.

Isolation and characterization of chitin from Millipede (Spirobolida)

open access: yesJournal of Basic and Applied Zoology, 2018
Background Chitin is the second most abundant bio-polysaccharide found in nature after cellulose. It is a polymer of β-1, 4-N-acetylglucosamine that occurs naturally in three polymorphic forms α, β, and γ-chitin. The main commercial sources of chitin are

Bacteria‐Responsive Nanostructured Drug Delivery Systems for Targeted Antimicrobial Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Bacteria‐responsive nanocarriers are designed to release antimicrobials only in the presence of infection‐specific cues. This selective activation ensures drug release precisely at the site of infection, avoiding premature or indiscriminate release, and enhancing efficacy.

Transforming Plastic Waste into Strain Sensors: Multifunctional Upcycled TPEE Elastomers with MXene Multilayer Assemblies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A sustainable approach is reported for upcycling PET waste into thermoplastic polyester elastomer (TPEE)‐based films with advanced properties, specifically designed for applications in strain sensing, conductivity, and photothermal response. Through a layer‐by‐layer deposition technique, TPEE films are fabricated with bio‐compatible chitosan (CH) or ...

Towards a radiocarbon chronology of the Late-Glacial: Sample selection strategies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
This paper outlines a dating program designed to test the reproducibility of radiocarbon dates on different materials of Late-Glacial age (plant macrofossils, fossil beetle remains, and the "humic" and "humin" chemical fractions of limnic sediments ...
