Gold sorption on chitosan derivatives

Hydrometallurgy, 2003
Four derivatives of chitosan have been prepared by cross-linking and by grafting of sulfur compounds. Sorption isotherms were performed at different pHs in order to optimize the pH conditions at fixed chloride concentration. Sorption isotherms were correlated with gold speciation in solution.

Electric resistance of chitosan derivatives

Carbohydrate Polymers, 1999
Abstract Direct compression of partially deacetylated chitin (DAC) and its derivatives gave tablets, which were found to be very convenient for the simple and swift estimation of the specific resistance under the various temperature and moisture conditions.

Mercury sorption on a thiocarbamoyl derivative of chitosan

Journal of Hazardous Materials, 2009
The grafting of thiourea on chitosan backbone allows synthesizing a thiocarbamoyl derivative that was very efficient for mercury sorption in acidic solutions. Though the sorption capacity is not increased compared to raw chitosan in near neutral solutions, this modification allowed maintaining high sorption capacity (close to 2.3 mmol Hg g(-1)) at pH 2.

Chitosan Derivatives as Biosorbents for Basic Dyes

Langmuir, 2007
The scope of this study was to prepare and evaluate chitosan derivatives as biosorbents for basic dyes. This was achieved by grafting poly (acrylic acid) and poly (acrylamide) through persulfate induced free radical initiated polymerization processes and covalent cross-linking of the prepared materials.

Antioxidant Effects of Chitin, Chitosan, and Their Derivatives

2014
Chitin, chitosan, and their derivatives are considered to promote diverse activities, including antioxidant, antihypertensive, anti-inflammatory, anticoagulant, antitumor and anticancer, antimicrobial, hypocholesterolemic, and antidiabetic effects, one of the most crucial of which is the antioxidant effect.
