Early metastasis is characterized by Gr1+ cell dysregulation and is inhibited by immunomodulatory nanoparticles

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer metastasis is associated with myeloid cell dysregulation and the lung‐specific accumulation of tumor‐supportive Gr1+ cells. Gr1+ cells support metastasis, in part, through a CHI3L1‐mediated mechanism, which can be targeted and inhibited with cargo‐free, polymeric nanoparticles.

Chloride ions evoke taste sensations by binding to the extracellular ligand-binding domain of sweet/umami taste receptors

open access: yeseLife, 2023
Salt taste sensation is multifaceted: NaCl at low or high concentrations is preferably or aversively perceived through distinct pathways. Cl− is thought to participate in taste sensation through an unknown mechanism. Here, we describe Cl− ion binding and

Chimeric diphtheria toxin–CCL8 cytotoxic peptide for breast cancer management

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
DTCCL8 is a recombinant fusion toxin that targets cancer cells expressing chemokine receptors. By combining diphtheria toxin with CCL8, DTCCL8 binds to multiple receptors on tumor cells and induces selective cytotoxicity. This strategy enables receptor‐mediated targeting of cancer and may support the development of chemokine‐guided therapeutics ...

Teores de cloretos, lactose e índice cloretos/lactose na secreção láctea de bovinos da raça Jersey no primeiro mês da lactação Chloride and lactose contents and chloride/lactose ratio in milk from Jersey cows in the first month of lactation

Exploring the role of cyclin D1 in the pathogenesis of multiple myeloma beyond cell cycle regulation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cyclin D1 overexpression altered the cell adhesion pathway, while cyclin D2 upregulation had less impact on pathway enrichment analysis. Multiple myeloma (MM) patients with cyclin D1 overexpression showed reduced CD56 expression and increased circulating tumor cells (CTC) levels, suggesting that cyclin D1 may contribute to MM cell dissemination ...

Modification of aluminium alloys with rare metals – the basis for advanced materials in construction and transport

open access: yesНанотехнологии в строительстве, 2016
The method of process powder injection into aluminum melt shows much promise. Scandium is injected by the high-temperature exchange reaction between the salt melt and aluminum. The best salt compositions were selected.

Point-of-Care Testing to Differentiate Various Acid–Base Disorders in Chronic Kidney Disease

open access: yesDiagnostics, 2023
Background: Normal-anion-gap metabolic acidosis (AGMA) and high-anion-gap metabolic acidosis (HAGMA) are two forms of metabolic acidosis, which is a common complication in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD).
