Fast and Simple Analytical Method for Direct Determination of Total Chlorine Content in Polyglycerol by ICP-MS

open access: yesMolecules, 2018
The fast and simple method for total chlorine determination in polyglycerols using low resolution inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) without the need for additional equipment and time-consuming sample decomposition was evaluated ...

Influencing Factors of Steel States in Concrete Based on Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopic Measurements

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
To cope with the premature deterioration of reinforced concrete structures caused by chloride-induced corrosion, the corrosion rate is required to be estimated and the transport parameters calculated.

Growing season methyl bromide and methyl chloride fluxes at a sub-arctic wetland in Sweden [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Methyl bromide and methyl chloride fluxes were measured at several sites in a sub-arctic wetland near Abisko, Sweden (68°280N 18°490E) throughout the 2008 growing season.

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Bread Wheat With High Salinity and Sodicity Tolerance

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2019
Soil salinity and sodicity are major constraints to global cereal production, but breeding for tolerance has been slow. Narrow gene pools, over-emphasis on the sodium (Na+) exclusion mechanism, little attention to osmotic stress/tissue tolerance ...

The Prognostic Role of Spot Urinary Sodium and Chloride in a Cohort of Hospitalized Advanced Heart Failure Patients: A Pilot Study

open access: yesLife, 2023
Recent studies have demonstrated the prognostic value of spot urinary sodium (UNa+) in acutely decompensated chronic HF (ADCHF) patients. However, data on the prognostic role of UNa+ and spot urinary chloride (UCl−) in patients with advanced HF are ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

The influence of curing and aging on chloride transport through ternary blended cement concrete

open access: yesMateriales de Construccion, 2018
The effect of the extension of the curing period and exposure time to a chloride source on the transport of these ions has been studied in concrete with 100% Portland cement (OPC) and with ternary cement composed of 64% OPC, 30% blast furnace slag (BFS ...
