Screen-printed potentiometric Ag/AgCl chloride sensors: Lifetime performance and their use in soil salt measurements

open access: yes, 2011
Silver – silver chloride electrodes (Ag/AgCl) for the detection of chloride ions were fabricated using thick-film technology. Five different formulations were prepared and chloride responses were investigated over time.

Modification of aluminium alloys with rare metals – the basis for advanced materials in construction and transport

open access: yesНанотехнологии в строительстве, 2016
The method of process powder injection into aluminum melt shows much promise. Scandium is injected by the high-temperature exchange reaction between the salt melt and aluminum. The best salt compositions were selected.

Point-of-Care Testing to Differentiate Various Acid–Base Disorders in Chronic Kidney Disease

open access: yesDiagnostics, 2023
Background: Normal-anion-gap metabolic acidosis (AGMA) and high-anion-gap metabolic acidosis (HAGMA) are two forms of metabolic acidosis, which is a common complication in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD).

Development of Ternary Magnesium Alloys for Laser Powder Bed Fusion: Optimizing Oxide Layer Thickness

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing of magnesium alloys by laser is difficult because the melting point of the oxide layer is much higher than the evaporation temperature of the metal underneath. Making the oxide layer thinner can solve this problem. Alloying magnesium with strontium makes the oxide layer thinner, especially at 0.5 wt%.

Effect of Mineral Nutrition and Salt Spray on Cucumber Downy Mildew (Pseudoperonospora cubensis)

open access: yesPlants, 2022
It was previously shown that spraying with CaCl2, MgCl2, KCl, and K2SO4 and high N and Mg concentrations in the irrigation water of potted cucumber plants reduced powdery mildew, while medium P and high K concentrations increased powdery mildew.

Maillard Type Reaction for Electroless Copper Plating onto Ceramic Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents the manufacturing of copper‐plated ceramic nanoparticles in an environmentally friendly way. Supported by organic functionalizations with pectin an electroless plating step can be performed. Sustainable reagents like xylose, and several amino acids are used for the reduction process.

EFFECTS OF CHLORIDE SALINITY ON NON-ENZYMATIC ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY, PROLINE AND MALONDIALDEHYDE CONTENT IN THREE FLUE-CURED CULTIVARS OF TOBACCO [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Plant Development, 2014
High salinity causes ion poisoning and subsequent oxidative stress. During oxidative ion poisoning, non-enzymatic defense systems such as carotenoids, phenols and flavonoids are activated.

Maternal taurine as a modulator of Cl– homeostasis as well as of glycine/GABAA receptors for neocortical development

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular Neuroscience, 2023
During brain and spinal cord development, GABA and glycine, the inhibitory neurotransmitters, cause depolarization instead of hyperpolarization in adults. Since glycine and GABAA receptors (GABAARs) are chloride (Cl–) ion channel receptor, the conversion
