Chloride ion invasion and stochastic model of diffusion coefficient for existing concrete

2010 International Conference on Mechanic Automation and Control Engineering, 2010
The hydraulic concrete structures under tidal environment bear types action of nature environment including chloride invasion and tidal water scouring and loads and so on. So, the chloride ion invasion problem of hydraulic concrete under the tidal environment is more particular, it is difficult to imitate the concrete invasion under the natural ...

Chloride Ion Diffusion Coefficient of HPFRCC after Loading

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
Various methods have been used to reinforce cementitious material such as mortar and concrete that have weak tensile strength. Fiber Reinforced Concrete is one of the reinforcing methods that mixes a matrix with fibers that have strong tensile strength.

Influence of diffusion coefficient on chloride ion penetration of concrete structure

Construction and Building Materials, 2007
This paper proposes a modified diffusion coefficient that considers the effect of chloride binding and evaporable water on the diffusion coefficient. A finite element method (FEM) program based on the modified diffusion coefficient estimates chloride concentration according to concrete depth, and external and internal conditions. The predicted chloride

Estimation of Diffusion Coefficients for Chloride Ion Penetration into Structural Concrete

ACI Materials Journal, 2002
The aim of this study was to identify a simple, reliable, and rational method to evaluate chloride ion diffusion coefficients for civil engineering applications. To make the conclusions of the study relevant to field concrete structures, the chloride penetration data used to estimate the diffusion coefficients was generated using fairly large-sized ...

A study of the self-diffusion coefficients of chloride ion in membranes and particles of hydrous zirconia as a function of variable chloride ion capacity

Journal of Inorganic and Nuclear Chemistry, 1972
Abstract In acidic media the particles and membranes of hydrous zirconia are shown to behave as variable capacity ion exchangers. Self-diffusion coefficients for chloride ion were measured as a function of the variable capacity for that ion in solutions of varying acidity. The results are shown to be in qualitative agreement with absolute rate theory.

Determination of diffusion coefficients of depositing ions in molten chlorides by transient electrochemical techniques

Journal of Applied Electrochemistry, 2000
The electrochemical reduction of Pb(II), Zn(II) and Mg(II) ions at glassy carbon and tungsten electrodes in molten KCl–LiCl eutectic was studied by linear sweep voltammetry (LSV), convolutive potential sweep voltammetry (CPSV), chronopotentiometry and chronoamperometry. In the case of lead deposition, the initial nucleation stage was found to influence

Theoretical Evaluation of Diffusion Coefficient of Chloride Ion in Mortar from Mobility

ACI Materials Journal, 1999
Many researchers have been trying to evaluate the diffusion coefficient of chloride ion in concrete by using qualitative and quantitative electromigration tests. Up to now, however, there has been no sufficient method to closely determine the diffusion coefficient of chloride ion through electromigration tests.

Relation of Permeability by High Hydraulic Method and Chloride Ion Diffusion Coefficient of Concrete

Key Engineering Materials, 2009
Permeation length, permeation coefficient of water permeated into concrete and chloride ion diffusion coefficient of C30, C45 and C60 concrete were studied by high hydraulic method (0.5MPa~25MPa) and quick method of testing chloride ion diffusion respectively, and relationship of concrete permeability tested by two methods was analyzed too.

Influence of Flexural Loading on Permeablility of Chloride Ion and Diffusion Coefficients in RC Beams

Advanced Materials Research, 2010
The permeability of chloride ion in concrete can be studied using the accelerated aging method in a short period, but the influence of loading characteristic on chloride ion permeability and diffusion coefficients is not considered generally. Three RC beam (120 mm×240 mm×2400 mm) specimens with different flexural loading state are exposed in an ...

Prediction of the Effective Diffusion Coefficient of Chloride Ions in Cement-Based Composite Materials

Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering, 2012
AbstractA multiscale model is established for effective diffusion coefficient of chloride ions in cement-based composite materials. The model takes into account the relationship between the diffusivity and microstructure of cement-based materials, where the microstructure includes the interfacial transition zone (ITZ) between the aggregate particles ...
