Influence of chlorobenzoates on the utilisation of chlorobiphenyls and chlorobenzoate mixtures by chlorobiphenyl/chlorobenzoate-mineralising hybrid bacterial strains

Archives of Microbiology, 1996
Chlorobenzoates (CBA) arise as intermediates during the degradation of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and some chlorinated herbicides. Since PCBs were produced as complex mixtures, a range of mono-, di-, and possibly trichloro-substituted benzoates would be formed.

Degradation of chlorobenzoates byAspergillus niger

Experientia, 1984
InA. niger, the degradation of chlorobenzoates follows the protocatechuate branch of s-ketoadipate pathway and the elimination of chloride takes place in the first hydroxylation step prior to ring cleavage.

Enhanced phytoremediation of chlorobenzoates in rhizosphere soil

Soil Biology and Biochemistry, 1999
Abstract The use of plants to detoxify contaminated soil sites has the potential to be a cost-effective alternative to traditional remediation technologies. However, plant-bacteria interactions in contaminated soils are not well understood. In this study we investigated the effect of bacterial seed inoculants on the rhizosphere community during the ...

Magnetic properties of pyridine copper (II) chlorobenzoates

Canadian Journal of Chemistry, 1968
Magnetic susceptibility studies have been made on the bispyridine adducts of copper(II)m-chloro-benzoate and copper(II) p-chlorobenzoate and on samples of composition Cu(ClC6H4CO2)2(C5H5N)x, where 2 > x ≥ 0. Results show that whereas the bispyridine adducts are essentially magnetically dilute the monopyridine and hemipyridine adducts of these ...

Biodegradation of chlorobenzoic acids by ligninolytic fungi

Journal of Hazardous Materials, 2011
We investigated the abilities of several perspective ligninolytic fungal strains to degrade 12 mono-, di- and trichloro representatives of chlorobenzoic acids (CBAs) under model liquid conditions and in contaminated soil. Attention was also paid to toxicity changes during the degradation, estimated using two luminescent assay variations with Vibrio ...

Metabolism of 2-chlorobenzoic acid inPseudomonas stutzeri

Folia Microbiologica, 1995
3-Chloropyrocatechol is formed as a result of oxidation of 2-chlorobenzoate by Pseudomonas stutzeri. 2-Chloro-cis,cis-muconic acid is the product of oxidation of 3-chloropyrocatechol. A catabolic pathway for the degradation of 2-chlorobenzoate by a newly isolated strain of P. stutzeri is proposed.

Separation of Chlorobenzoic Acids through Hydrotropy

Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 1998
The separation of o- and p-chlorobenzoic acids from their mixtures was investigated using hydrotrope solutions. The aqueous solubilities of o- and p-chlorobenzoic acids in different concentrations of hydrotrope (i.e., sodium butyl monoglycol sulfate) at different temperatures were determined by the weight disappearance method.

Enzymatic dehalogenation of 4-chlorobenzoate by 4-chlorobenzoate dehalogenase from Pseudomonas sp. CBS3 in organic solvents

Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, 1988
4-Chlorobenzoate dehalogenase from Pseudomonas sp. CBS3 showed dehalogenating activity in various organic solvents. In alcohols like methanol (150%) or ethanol (120%) higher activities than in water (100%) were obtained. In apolar solvents like petroleum ether (5%) and nhexane (5%) only trace activities were observed.

Triphenylphosphine oxide–3-chlorobenzoic acid (1/1)

Acta Crystallographica Section C Crystal Structure Communications, 2003
In the title compound, C(18)H(15)OP.C(7)H(5)ClO(2), the triphenylphosphine oxide molecule forms a single directed hydrogen bond with the 3-chlorobenzoic acid molecule, with an O.O=P distance of 2.607 (2) A. The C-Cl and C=O bonds adopt a cisoid conformation in the 3-chlorobenzoic acid molecule.

Biodegradation of 3-chlorobenzoate by Pseudomonas putida 10.2

World Journal of Microbiology & Biotechnology, 1996
Pseudomonas putida 10.2, a 3-chlorobenzoate (3CBa)-degrading bacterium, was isolated from a soil sample obtained from an agricultural area in Chiang Mai, Thailand. This bacterium could degrade 2MM 3CBa very rapidly with the concomitant formation of chloride ion when grown in mineral salt-yeast extract medium.
