A scattering quantum circuit for measuring Bell's time inequality: a nuclear magnetic resonance demonstration using maximally mixed states [PDF]

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics 13 (2011) 053023, 2011
In 1985, Leggett and Garg (1985 Phys. Rev. Lett. 54 857) proposed a Bell-like inequality to test (in)compatibility between two fundamental concepts of quantum mechanics. The first concept is 'macroscopic realism', which is the quality of a physical property of a quantum system being independent of observation at the macroscopic level.

CircCCNB1 inhibits vasculogenic mimicry by sequestering NF90 to promote miR‐15b‐5p and miR‐7‐1‐3p processing in nasopharyngeal carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CircCCNB1 expression is down‐regulated in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC); thus, less NF90 protein is bound to circCCNB1 and more binds to pri‐miRNAs, blocking their (pri‐miRNAs) binding to DGCR8 and inhibiting the processing and generation of miR‐15b‐5p/miR‐7‐1‐3p. Furthermore, decreased miR‐15b‐5p/miR‐7‐1‐3p promotes the expression of the target genes

The Patient’s Pain in Her Own Words: Margaret Mathewson’s ‘Sketch of Eight Months a Patient, in the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, A.D. 1877’

open access: yes19, 2012
It has been commonly assumed that nineteenth-century hospital patients were objectified, silenced, treated as the 'accident' of their disease, to use Michel Foucault's term, and also that as charity patients they were largely illiterate paupers, and ...

DETERMINATION OF NECESSARY CONDITIONS FOR EFFICIENT PURIFICATION OF DRINKING WATER WITH HIGH CHLOROFORM CONTENT BY PLASMA TREATMENT IN AEROSOL

open access: yesГеохімія техногенезу, 2021
Sustainable development of any country is possible only if the stable supply of its population with drinking water in accordance with their needs, quantity and regulatory quality.

Acute Chloroform Ingestion Successfully Treated with Intravenously Administered N-acetylcysteine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Chloroform, a halogenated hydrocarbon, causes central nervous system depression, cardiac arrhythmias, and hepatotoxicity. We describe a case of chloroform ingestion with a confirmatory serum level and resultant hepatotoxicity successfully treated with ...

THE CAUSATION OF DEATH DURING THE ADMINISTRATION OF CHLOROFORM

open access: yesBritish medical journal, 1902
pressure on the lower surface of the hard palate, while ingenious, cannot be regarded as a complete explanation. It seems very probable that each of these theories is to some extent correct, but that no single one is sufficient to fully explain the mode ...

Alkane biosynthesis gene expression and its increased production in recombinant cyanobacteria

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The transcription and mRNA structures of the alkane biosynthesis genes ado/aar were analysed in the representative cyanobacteria PCC 6803 and SK1‐2‐1, which produce C17H36 and C15H32, respectively. PCC 6803 transconjugants carrying these genes showed a 1.8‐ to 2.3‐fold increase in C17H36 production.

Detonation hazards with ''safe'' industrial solvents [PDF]

open access: yes, 1970
Sensitivities of various metal/halocarbon slurries to impact are given. Barium and lithium shavings show sensitivity with all of the halocarbons tested except methyl chloroform.
