Synthesis, Reactivity and Structure of Chlorophylls

2007
Summary Chlorophylls (Chls) and bacteriochlorophylls (BChls) are complex tetrapyrroles that continue to attract the attention of synthetic chemists. While Chl reactivity is similar to that of porphyrins, the reduced pyrrole rings which lower their stability and the complex substituent pattern which is observed in nature, makes their syntheses ...

Synthesis of Chlorophyll Doped Silica-mesostructure Materials

Chemistry Letters, 1998
Abstract The photosynthetic molecule chlorophyll(Chl) doping silica mesostructure material can be directly synthesized by self-organized co-assembly of mixing Chl with hexadecyltrimethylammonium chloride (C16-TMA) surfactant, successfully.

Acetate Repression of Chlorophyll Synthesis in Euglena gracilis

Nature, 1967
THE photosynthetic apparatus of Euglena gracilis is exceptionally labile and can be bleached by a variety of chemical and physical agents. During a recent series of experiments on streptomycin1, heat2 and hydroxyurea3 inhibition of chlorophyll synthesis in Euglena, it was noted that cells grown in the presence of excess sodium acetate contained less ...

Control of chlorophyll synthesis in Chromatium vinosum

Archiv fr Mikrobiologie, 1970
The role of adenine nucleotides in the control of the energy metabolism of Chromatium has been studied through the measurement of the levels of ATP ADP, and AMP in growing cultures. Comparison of these levels with the cellular chlorophyll levels indicates that ATP concentration, and not those of ADP, AMP, or any function of concentration of these three

Chlorophyll Synthesis in the Dark in Peas

1984
Our earlier work (Adamson 1978, Adamson, Hiller, Vesk 1980; Adamson, Hiller 1981, Adamson, 1982a,b) established that the flowering plants, Tradescantia albiflora, Tradescantia blossfeldiana, Pollia crispata, Zostera capricorni, Posidonia australis and Hordeum vulgare continue to synthesise chlorophyll when transferred from light to darkness.

Sucrose suppression of chlorophyll synthesis in carrot callus cultures

Planta, 1971
Substrate levels of sucrose were shown to reduce chlorophyll synthesis in carrot tissue culture strain CRT1 but not in strain CRT2. In CRT1 the effect was shown to be a suppression of greening specifically by sucrose rather than a reducing sugar requirement for chlorophyll synthesis.

Variation in Chlorophyll Synthesis in Hexaploid Wheat

1990
The attainment of a high yield potential depends on the rapid rates of photosynthesis (1). Crop photosynthesis is the function of leaf area and the rate of photosynthesis per unit leaf area. In northern India, drought during anthesis and grain filling periods reduces the rate of photosynthesis and accelerates leaf senescence particularly in crops like ...
