6-Hydroxyimino-5α-cholestane [PDF]
The title compound, C(27)H(47)NO, is a steroid derivative composed of a saturated carbon fused-ring framework with an alkyl side chain. Ring bond lengths have normal values with an average of 1.533 (2) Å, while the cholestane side chain shows an average bond length of 1.533 (2) Å.

STEROIDS: PART IV. CONDENSATION OF CHOLESTAN-3-ONE AND CHOLESTANE-3,6-DIONE WITH FORMALDEHYDE [PDF]
Cholestan-3-one and cholestane-3,6-dione were allowed to react under the conditions of the Mannich reaction with paraformaldehyde and amine hydrochlorides. The products obtained proved to be methylene-bis-ketones, and were formulated as di(2,2′-3-oxocholestanyl)methane and di(4,4′-3,6-dioxocholestanyl)methane respectively.

Iron‐Mediated Release of Aged Dissolved Organic Carbon From Waterlogged Peatland Under Warming
This study conducts a five‐year in situ warming experiment in high‐altitude peatlands to examine dissolved organic carbon (DOC) release. The study shows that warming promotes the release of plant‐derived modern DOC in drained peatlands, but amplifies aquatic export of century‐old DOC from waterlogged peatlands via Fe‐mediated DOC mobilization—a ...

Seasonal Fluctuations of Plastochromanol‐8 and α‐Tocopherol Amounts in the Leaves of Cecropia Trees
ABSTRACT Plastochromanol‐8 (PC‐8) is a homologue of γ‐tocotrienol with a longer side chain (eight instead of three isoprene units) and therefore also a representative of the tocochromanol (vitamin E) group. PC‐8 has been determined in various plants and seeds, with Cecropia sp. leaves showing unusually high levels.

High temperatures in a short time on electric stoves in private homes. Fast loss of tocochromanols using standardized conditions and a miniature heating apparatus. ABSTRACT Tocochromanols (vitamin E compounds) are essential ingredients in human nutrition. Their consumption via edible oils is considered the main source of dietary intake.

Cholestane Glycosides from Solanum abutiloides. III.
Four new cholestane glycosides, named abutilosides D (1), E (2), F (3) and G (4), were isolated from the fresh roots of Solanum abutiloides. By chemical and spectroscopic evidence, their structures were elucidated as 26-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl 3beta,16alpha,26-trihydroxy-5alpha-cholestan-22-one 3-O-beta-D-xylopyranosyl-(1-->2)-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl ...

Sedimentary lycopane/n‐C31 ratio as a proxy for bottom water hypoxia in coastal ocean
Abstract Bottom‐water hypoxia on continental shelves is intensifying under climate change and eutrophication, yet long‐term records remain scarce. Here we show that the sedimentary lycopane/n‐C31 ratio reliably records bottom‐water oxygenation in the seasonally hypoxic Yangtze River Estuary.

Liver‐ and Immune‐Enriched Molecular Signatures Associated With Mortality in Older Adults
Untargeted plasma proteomics and metabolomics identified molecular signatures associated with all‐cause mortality in older adults. A liver‐enriched proteomic profile was associated with mortality risk in the ILAS cohort and showed consistent associations in an independent validation cohort, supporting circulating proteomic profiles for mortality risk ...

This study utilizes a two‐sample Mendelian randomization framework to establish a causal link between circulating inflammatory proteins, blood metabolites, and the risk of serous ovarian carcinoma. Our findings identify Interleukin‐8 as a significant risk factor and demonstrate that 1‐Palmitoyl‐GPG (16:0) acts as a metabolic mediator within this ...

ABSTRACT Chemical communication, typically based on feces, urine, and glandular secretions, often deposited as substrate scent marks, plays a key role in social organization and communication among many mammals, especially carnivores. This study assesses experimentally whether the type of substrate chosen for fecal deposition and the temperature ...
