Serum cholesterol response to dietary cholesterol [PDF]

open access: yesThe American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 1984
Serum cholesterol change, delta Chol mg/dl, from change only in dietary cholesterol, mg/1,000 kcal, x, was analyzed with data from 39 controlled experiments on 64 adults with the model delta Chol = b(x2k-x1k). Values of b were found by iteration for exponents k = 0.3 to k = i.0 yielding eight regression equations to check predicted against observed ...

Effect of oral cinnamon intervention on metabolic profile and body composition of Asian Indians with metabolic syndrome: a randomized double -blind control trial

open access: yesLipids in Health and Disease, 2017
Background Nutritional modulation remains central to the management of metabolic syndrome. Intervention with cinnamon in individuals with metabolic syndrome remains sparsely researched.

Circular RNA circARPC1B functions as a stabilisation enhancer of Vimentin to prevent high cholesterol‐induced articular cartilage degeneration

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, 2023
Background Osteoarthritis (OA) is a prevalent and debilitating condition, that is, directly associated with cholesterol metabolism. Nevertheless, the molecular mechanisms of OA remain largely unknown, and the role of cholesterol in this process has not ...

Measurement of Total Cholesterol, HDL-Cholesterol, and LDL-Cholesterol

open access: yesClinics in Laboratory Medicine, 1989
Plasma concentrations of LDL and HDL are generally measured in terms of their cholesterol content. This requires the separation of the appropriate lipoprotein-containing fractions. The separation and measurement of each fraction are described.

Experience With Performing Rheocarna Therapy via the Single‐Needle Method for Treatment of Chronic Limb‐Threatening Ischemia

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction This study investigated the safety and efficacy of single‐needle Rheocarna therapy for chronic limb‐threatening ischemia (CLTI) with wounds. Methods Six patients with CLTI involving ulcers unresponsive to revascularization underwent single‐needle Rheocarna treatment.

Cholesterol

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2003
The accumulation and aggregation of the amyloid-β peptide (Aβ) in the brain are important contributing factors to Alzheimer's disease (AD). Consequently, blocking the generation of Aβ is a potentially important treatment strategy.

Effectiveness of a Novel Low‐Density Lipoprotein Apheresis Device Rheocarna in Patients Undergoing Hemodialysis With Chronic Limb‐Threatening Ischemia: A Single‐Center Retrospective Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic limb‐threatening ischemia (CLTI) is a severe form of lower‐extremity artery disease characterized by distal lesions and microcirculatory impairment, limiting revascularization efficacy. Rheocarna is a direct hemoperfusion low‐density lipoprotein (LDL) adsorption device with potential rheological and anti‐inflammatory ...

Hepatic cholesterol metabolism in cholesterol gallstone disease

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1991
Hepatic cholesterol metabolism was examined in 27 Swedish patients with cholesterol gallstone disease and in 13 patients free of gallstones operated for roentgenographically suspect polyps in the gallbladder.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.
