Interaction of Tangier lipoproteins with cholesteryl ester-laden mouse peritoneal macrophages.
Cholesterol efflux was studied from cholesteryl esterladen mouse peritoneal macrophages in the presence of Tangier lipoproteins derived from fasting and postprandial sera of three patients homozygous for Tangier disease (analphalipoproteinemia).

In diabetic kidney disease, elevated podocyte ANGPTL4 is linked to reduced TFEB nuclear localization and compromised lysosomal degradative function. These changes impair podocyte lipophagy and promote lipid‐droplet accumulation and podocyte injury, which may contribute to renal injury progression.

Cholesteryl Ester Storage Disease – A Rare Presentation
Cholesteryl Ester Storage Disease (CESD) is a rare genetic disease characterized by accumulation of cholesteryl esters and triglycerides in many tissues due to deficiency of Lysosomal Acid Lipase (LAL/ LIPA) enzyme, which is essential for hydrolysis of triglycerides and cholesterol esters in lysosomes.1 The diagnosis is indicated by abnormal lipid ...

Choleteryl ester storage disease: A rare cause of adrenal calcifications in children
Cholesteryl ester storage disease (CESD) in children is a rare anatomo-clinical entity, characterized by a secondary lysosomal accumulation and an autosomal recessive mutation in the LIPA gene, which results from a lysosomal acid lipase (LAL) deficiency.

Tissue and cellular specific expression of murine lysosomal acid lipase mRNA and protein
Lysosomal acid lipase (LAL) is essential to the intracellular control of cholesterol and triglyceride catabolism via the low density lipoprotein (LDL) delivery of these neutral lipids to the lysosome.

Regulating Lipid Metabolism in Cancer: The Therapeutic Potential of Traditional Chinese Medicine
By regulating the reprogramming of lipid metabolism in tumor cells, TCM provides a novel strategy for antitumor therapy with reduced toxicity and enhanced efficacy. ABSTRACT Lipid metabolic reprogramming is a key feature of tumor cells to adapt to the microenvironment and plays an important role in tumor growth, invasion, and metastasis.
